Went out on the rib on wednesday 13th Caenarfon bar for a spot of & come across a sun fish take a look at the vid

You usually see them in Cornwall around August, maybe it's lost. Great to see.

Great Summer sighting, so it must be summer?!? .....little chance of seeing one this weekend by the looks of the forecast

I thought it was injured fish at first till I got a bit closer great sight to see thought

We see them around the Needles occasionally.

What a great sight, I remember seeing a whale in the Med basking like that once - fantastic.

I guess the sun fish has gone into hiding now though!

I've not but will do now I have the link it's the first time I've seen one didn't know you could report there sighting

we've seen them around Pembrokeshire & in Normandy. Nice to see

nice one hadd well spotted, i looks like a new born (about 1yr old) as these fish grow really big, have seen them of the north coast of angelsey a couple of times while diving offshore well done mate neal

Cool fish.

I remember seeing one about 8' long in Monterey Harbor. The sea lions eat the smaller ones, but they didn't mess with this one.

I've only seen a couple while diving; my friends see a lot more than me (probably because I have my face in the rocks or sand looking for small stuff.)

Difficult to spot. Mr Jingles wasn't WOT when you saw that. Guess you were fishing. That little fin wiggling around while floating on the surface and being slow and cumbersome is asking for trouble from both animals and machines.

We get loads round this way during the summer months, probably feeding on all the Jelly fish, I've seen them up to 3ft ish, but never as big as the one pictured.

Any idea why they were catching that guy? As far as I know, they're not at all desirable for any kind of usage.

Probably hit by a large fast vessel whilst doing its flappy fin fing. Or got caught up in the nets by accident.

i think they come to the surface to have their parasites removed by gulls?
we saw about 10 /12 in irish sea never seen them before

"Apparently" It's not fully understood why they surface, another theory is that they use the warmer oxygen rich water found at the surface to aid digestion, A recent tagging study in the North Atlantic disovered they spend more time surfaced at night, and diving to 200 metre plus when feeding. Although they'd be hard pushed to find any deeper than 120 meter around The Irish Sea, but then we get plenty Jelly fish round here (their main diet).

Meat is reportedly (depending on who you talk to) mushy, slightly toxic, or horrible tasting. Don't know, as I'm not that adventurous diet-wise.
