Sunday 1 February 09

The weather on Sunday was not too bad so as the rib had not been on the water since Boxing Day we just had to go out
we left Southampton Dry Stack before 11.00, a quick top up of diesel (83 pence a liter so not that very bad ) and off to Portsmouth to have a peek at HMS Daring. we got back by 2 PM and winterized the engine again. It only started snowing when I got to the A27.
we passed a couple of ribs having fun in the Southampton waters but not a rib in sight in the Solent

winterizing for the peace of mind

This is my DIY kit and take just a few minutes to fully winterize my QSD 4.2 (350HP) engine

Nice pics - do they have the rozzer's boat stationed alongside the Daring on guard all the time or was it just there at the time you took the pics?

There are two Rozzer's launches that I have seen and they normally patrol the whole of the area to include a stretch of coast line either side of the Harbour entrance. I've seen them venture into Langstone Harbour on the other side of Portsea Island, but usualy just cruise the dockyard when they don't have anything else to do. So I would say it was coincidence that it was alongside Daring.

As Hightower says they patrol the harbour 24/7. They normally escort Navy ships when they come in and out.

I was out on Sunday running a new engine in. Was really lovely even did a bit of seal spotting in the River Blackwater, Essex.

Am off to Plymouth next week for my PI course!

We came in at the same time as those two naval crafts were coming in.
