Jono,

How does it happen? at speed or falling tide? is that inconviently located dry stone wall on the chart?

People allways say when they do this "there should me markers here" to which we reply "like these green ones that are either side of you" It is shown well on the chart.

This guy hit the training arm reversed off and landed on the shore the other side of the channel http://www.pwllhelilifeboat.co.uk/20653.html and scroll down to 22/08/06 service have a look at the 12/07/06 - this guyed picked up a rope

As it is my CZ7 I am probably somewhat biased, but Jono has seen and been on and owned a lot of RIB's so I value his opinion.

Have you ever seen let alone been on a CZ7, if not how can you realistically comment on whether it is overpriced or not as you would certainly not have been in a position to see how it actually performs - on that ask Jono

A happy owner who feels he has real value for money!

Actually I can now say that I have - well almost. I have been out on it's very close cousin - the new Avon which uses exactly the same hull including the transom platform. Remember this is a proper commercial Avon to military spec - build quality is awesome as proved by just how long Avon's last. Tubes looked so tough they could almost be bullet proof.

Ride quality was very good but not as good as the Revenger type hull. Mind you this could be down to the fact my boat is quite a bit bigger.

I suspect the CZ7 may not now be as overpriced as I first thought due to the exchange rate.

I was offered a very good deal on the Avon though!!!

You are full of the brown stuff have you been ina big revenger in a big following sea?

The avon is the same hull shape as the CZ7 thats the only thing they have in common!!

A few things the CZ7's got-

Onboard Commpressor
Air Suspension Deck
A hull thats thicker than cod prawns head
Ullman Seat
Radar
Alluminium Console

Well I would have thought the hull shape had quite a lot to do with it - along with the tubes of course - and Avon are pretty experienced on that front!!!

Air suspension deck? Sounds great - but as it's made using the same stuff as in trainers you get the same effect by wearing a pair of Nikes!!!

The Avon also had Ullman seats

Radar and an aluminium console - yup

So apart from the onboard compressor they seem to have quite a lot in common!!!

I am NOT trying to rubbish someone elses boat - the CZ7 is awesome but I still think it is overpriced - or was when it came out.

As to a following sea that is always a RIB's weak point - looking at that big pad the outboards are attached to I would worry what would happen if a big wave crashed down on it from behind. a canoe stern it's most certainly not!!!

Good review of the Avon here

Untill you've been on it you can't properly appreciate the standard of fit out.
Its brilliant. Everything just has a bombproof feel to it and it looks fantastic.

Loved the cushioned floor too, that combined with the ullman seats and it takes away all shocks and vibrations.
The Avon is the same hull yes, but everything about the CZ7 oozes quality. And its something different. Can't be more than a few of them in the country.

The X factor

Dear mr jellis
luv yer boat mate!...this is the most awsome bit of kit ive seen in 23 years of owning ribs and to be driven by two big etecs

The true test of its sea going quality and reliability would be to come on a north west ribsters day out...isnt that right Mr Garton
