thanks for the heads up on the engines

if the yam was closer then i would have driven over to see it and test it out but is a long way away. also the engine i get will need to be a long shaft as opposed to an extra long shaft

cheers

Im not sure what your thoughts were on second hand engines but just spotted this on ebay:

Nearly new Yammie 200HP HPDI

Probably too powerful but this E-tec is in my local evinrude dealers, bit expensive and in IMHO the wrong colour E-TEC!
E-tec 250HP

Best of luck with it

Alex

EDIT: Just re-read the Yamaha auction, worrying lack of feedback and possibly library photos, check it exists before parting with any cash!

Had a bit of a heavy night, didn't look at the location!! No point bothering with that Yamaha if its in Orkney!! Yeah, best to get the right shaft length, too short and it will cavitate loads and too long, will limit the top end performance, best to take Ospreys advice. I agree with Andy (Hightower) 10k is alot for a secondhand engine, may aswell get new and have the warranty, I have heard that Suzuki and Evinrude are available at good prices, 175 Suzy is quite new though, but they may do you a deal on a 200.
Topgear starts in 10 minutes I believe

Z200NETOL is Long shaft...

Z200NETOX is X-tra long shaft

HTH!

BTW - looking at your transom cut-out, I thought it looked quite high?

What's the measurement from engine notch to the V of the keel?

its cut for a long shaft engine, in the post below i meant to say its a long shaft i need but was busy outside so did not get chance to check if that yam was a long or extra long so thanks for looking

the approximate length of the cutout to the base of the keel is around 21-22 inchs, keel is flat at the bottom at the back for speed i guess.

if the yam was closer i would have defn given it a look

Thanks for the PM questions on the Trailer, it is an SBS model and is the ELR 2 1800, and is superb. I have had two indespension trailers before and my other trailer is an Indepension super roller coaster 7 which i have had for 7 years now.

The trailer weight is 400kg and it will take a load of 1400kg giving a total all up weight of 1800kg, i would say it would take a lot bigger boat than mine in terms of length and would take easily a 7m or a 7.5.

It tows perfectly at any speed with the boat on it or not and it has a lot of really great features. I looked at snipe and indespension and SBS and the SBS is miles ahead on quality and the quality of the fittings like hitch wheels, etc etc

also no other two wheel trailer is rated at 1400kg carry capacity!!

everyone who has seen it has been really impressed with the quality, build and fittings etc so if you need a new trailer then i would recommend calling sbs at their hq and secure yourself a good quality trailer at a very reasonable price.

SBS trailers

Good aren't they?

Just a quick word of caution about using it for a 7.5m RIB - you're looking at an all-up weight of 2000kg+ for that size of boat, so you would be exceeding the trailer's rated weight, and probably the rating for the tyres as well, so you would very likely need a 4-wheel trailer.

Richard good point....

my quote was...i would say it would take a lot bigger boat than mine in terms of length and would take easily a 7m or a 7.5.

i think i am referring to the boat length that the trailer would take being 7.5m, and it would take a 7m with ease... obviously any boat that is taken on the trailer would need to be at or below the 1400kg limit as i would not like to presume what a boat might weigh.

Tubes

Hugh

Have been following your project with interest

If you require a quote for the tubes and for fitting, would be pleased to quote by return. Can also offer a towing service rather than you having to cover yet more mileage. Tried sending a PM but you are not accepting them.

Chris, thanks so much for the email and quotation, very much appreciated. I have now selected a company to tube the boat for me and it is due to be started at the end of January.

thanks for the PMs asking for some pics to be posted so i will get some on the thread this weekend once i have finished the console and fitted the upper half

engine is now fitted and will be PDi'd either next week or the week after.

i have gone for a twin 120ah battery installation
i have a mp3 driven 250w Amp driving 150w JVC waterproof speakers(hopefully louder than an opti
top mount gen 2 binnacle
seastar steering with front mount steering assy
200opti engine with smartcraft gauges
icom 421 radio
garmin 178c colour chartplotter/depth/fish finder
offshore 90 compass
protex fastners

this weekend i will finalise the wiring of the engine and complete the conduit assemblies

currently busy glassfibring and flocoating the modifications i am doing. i prefer to glass in items like the fuel filler panel etc rather than have machine screws on show etc.
