wow you are quite the artist i must say, i should commission you to do some etchings for me!
as you were saying earlier moving the console over to the right has dropped the offset for the engine but to be honest when i spoke with the "experts" it all seems a bit of a finger in the air approach and not the level of accuracy i was expecting
if i am spotted doing circles everywhere or only going round the isle of wight one way you know why!

Looks like a nice bit of kit happy sailing
Hugh do you have the phone number of the people who did your stainless steel work.
Hugh i hope your console hinges and clips are strong looks like a heavy top on your console.
Hope to see you at the rib meeting in June. Thanks John

hi and thanks for the message, the guy to speak with is mark from marine fabrications, he is excellent and very very helpful, i will send a pm with this details
the fasterners i used are protex and cost around 25 quid each and will take a loading of around 350kg each. the console is perfectly balanced when on top so no strain is put on either the hinges or the front fasteners when at rest, and i doubt if when i am gripping onto the console and steering wheel if i can excert more than 700kg even if i do need to lose a bit of weight
feel free to call me on the pm number
cheers

posting this again if it helps others
if it helps anyone who is looking to get some work done on their boats then i have used the following companies for the supply, manufacture etc of various items for my boat and the individuals and companies have provided excellent support, willingness to meet custom requirements and have given very high quality with a competitive price.
For the tubes i have used RibCraft in Yeovil, they are happy to do retubing work for many different types of boat as well as supplying their own excelent line of boats. They are well regarded for their quality of tube work and there are plenty of ribcrafts out there for you to check their work. I will post some pics of the tubing when i pick up the boat.
http://www.ribcraft.co.uk/
For the stainless steel work for the boat I have used Marine Fabrications, they will manufacture pretty much anything you want and are extremely helpful, Ask for Mark, everyone who has seen my stainless steel work has commented on the quality of the workmanship
http://www.marinefabrications.co.uk/
For the upholstery I have used MasterTrim, Loui is the contact there and they are willing to undertake any work you require and to your individual specification. I will post pics of the upholstery when i pick it up in a couple of weeks.
http://www.master-trim.co.uk/
for the trailer i have purchased an SBS ELR2 1800 single axle which takes a 1400kg load with a total all up weight of 1800kg. The trailer tows very well and has many significant design benefits over snipe and hallmark (i have a hallmark as well) and again they are easy to do business with.
http://www.sbstrailers.co.uk/index.asp
For the engine and many of the various components for the boat I used Ron Hale marine. Ross is the contact there and they were very competitive and helpful with my requirements around the engine and its fitting and also the supply of various ancilliary boat bits and bobs.
http://www.ronhalemarine.co.uk/
for the steering I have used Sea Star from Hypro Marine, again very helpful and easy to do business with, the kit is very high quality and has a great reputation. contact there is Steve
http://www.hypromarine.com/
for fasteners i have used protex which are great but expensive
http://www.protex-fasteners.com/
Thanks to those that contacted me with recommendations of folks they had used previously, I contacted a lot of companies both local and distant and I found the suppliers I have listed to be the best balance of Quality/workmanship/ease of doing business/competitive pricing/genuine people
good luck with your own projects..

Really don't know - waiting for some guages to be fitted and a few other bits and bobs - also so much depends on weather and my workload - any time in next 2 weeks.

How come there's a bit of seat belt from an MG Metro in that console?

I agree Roden, the build up and anticipation generated by these two new arrivals has been so great that the event should, perhaps be recognised by the Ribnet fraternity. Any suggestions anyone?

Re: meeting of new owners
Perhaps a title for this potentially legendary event: " Hugh and Codprawn" Twin Titans Of The Tubes! or this one: "Hugh and Cod" Finally Off The Old Sod!
Personally I would love to see photos of this occasion up on this forum as
I have followed both threads regarding these boats and personalities with interest and some amusement. You can see both are excited about their new toys!

Ahhh Alice, it is a restraint strap to stop the console openeing too far onto the speakers, i will be fitting gas struts at some stage once i source some good ones at the right price. i chose a red one so it stands out, it does the job just nicely for the time being.

Alice Rodan and Pathalla
what a fun idea indeed, i am always up for meeting new folks but so far Codders has kept away from civilisation and the human rib race so not sure he would be keen on meeting folks or a crowd.......but you never know...he now potentially owns a rib....so you never know... so cods what do ya say?

a question for the sikaflex experts
Lady Alice, no it was not an MG metro that donated the strap but was a lorry strap effort i purchased and the strap was about 100yds long!
A question for those in the know
i have this evening sikoflexed my elephant trunks onto the pipe thru the transom, i roughed up the surface and the elephant trunking in hypalon was a really nice snug fit. do you think it will be enough just to have the sikoflex joining the two or will i need to fit a jubilee clip as well.
the plastic pipe protrouded about 4-5 inchs or so from the transom, and i sikaflexed the hypalon to it for this entire length, i reckon it will be fine with out a jubilee clip but wanted to get others opinions.
the hypalon was formed in a sausage and was a really tight fit on the pipe
a pic below
also if anyone has to cut the bnc connector off their garmin then maplin do a nice 50ohm crimp bnc connector to replace it, you just need the special tool to fit it, but works a treat with a bit of heatshrink over it
just finished for the evening out there as its damn cold now
