Typical isn't it...we had some divers down staying....

Had a run down to Strumble head on Saturday from Cardigan....Dived the reef at Cwm Yr Egwlys, The Gramsbergen and Carreg Wastad, but didn't find the remains of the wooden wreck there.....vis was very poor. Cardigan bar was buzzing when we got back and we had to play dodge the surfer through the sets....Sunday was okay, yesterday a write-off, so we did some shore dives at St.Brides where vis was still good at around 3m despite it blowing a five or six further out....

Howling today again...not due to drop off until Thurs

We just had a run on the Friday but did get out diving on the Sunday.
Did the Breda and then two exploratory dives looking at marks I had found previously looking for crashed aircraft. Struck lucky on the second one and found one of the Catalinas I had been looking for

Incidentally I have always fancied black powder shooting but can seem to find a definite version of the law regarding this, anybody any idea what it is?

That is almost certainly an urban legend, the only three aircraft sunk inside Oban Bay/Kerrera sound were all recovered at the time.
All the aircraft are in the Firth of Lorne and I have marks for at least 4-5 more. There is a total of six flying boats and one land bomber sunk within two miles of Oban

Same rules for any other type of shooting .. you'll need an FAC for the hardware, but unlike ordinary shooters you'll also need a black powder licence for the propellant as it is classed as an explosive, not a big deal. On the upside you can still get to shoot pistol, as none of them have been banned, although its a more laborious process, what with measuring powder for every shot, then putting in waddings or wax patches, the projectile, and finally fitting a percussion cap.

There is some fine shooting to be done though with old flintlocks, cap and ball revolvers and muskets, not to mention the clouds of gun smoke

Try and find your nearest club, which range they shoot at and have a go there. You will need to invest a little in all the stuff though, so best to try first to make sure you like it before getting too involved...., then you could officiate at regattas, as you'll be one of the few qualified to fire the starting cannons

Or go for a holiday to Jersey where you can play with stuff like this:
For anyone interested
Colt 2011's built by SVI for practical shooting, left one is for standard class, 40 S&W and on the right with the red dot sight is open class .38 super auto calibre which goes with a bang! (my current load is pushing them out at over 1400 fps )

So yes I will hijack threads whenever I like

Yeah some nice kit there , I really miss that side of it now, we can still shoot cartridge pistol, but its got to be over the reg length, so its stuff like long barelled Ruger super Redhawks with wrist braces because in essence it wasnt handguns that were banned, .. but short guns .. (sure you'll be aware of that Martini, but others might not be) .. needless to say (the last time I checked) gun crime has actually gone up in the UK and not down
