Time lapse from the start of round the island race

Been out early this morning to watch the start of the Round the Island yacht race, I took my gopro style camera to have a go at a time lapse. It got some odd looks by passers by as it was stuck on a sign with a gorilla pod.
It didn't come out how I would of liked but I'm still pleased with the outcome.

It took a photo every 5 seconds and it's played back at 25 fps

Each group/class of boats had 10 minute intervals.
Unfortunately I didn't make it there for the first 2 starts but I did see the third, I started the camera at 5:38 to capture the 4th start. It then went on until 6:46. 6:40 was the last start.

Has anyone else experimented with a bit of time lapse? Anything which I could do next time to improve?
