Trevor G's Round Ireland GoPro stuff

has been posted on YouTube.
Conditions get interesting from the 8 minute in mark,
although why do seas never seem as huge on video as they do when your on them?
Makes for interesting viewing when compared with the footage of Skerryvore on similar seas....
graphic illustration of what a difference 5 extra metres and 240 more horse power make.
Trevor G and his son did incredibly well in their 4.7 - watching them run with Appleattaque and Hot Lemon is impressive.

My Go-Pro definitely has the 'sea shrinking filter' installed ;-)

That said the sea state does look pretty interesting! Definitely large compared to what I'm used to!

Yes, imagine what her big brother (The Beast) is like in the rough. Same hull plus a meter, oh yeah - and an extra 300hp.

Thanks Andy - I was going to start a post on this, but didn't get round to it!
I'm going to try and shrink it down to 5 mins when I'm bored - but it was hard enough as it was to get the 52 hours of ribbing down to under 30 mins.

In case anyone's interested here's the details of daily miles, hours and fuel used.

Ha ha ha

Should have bought her Willk

BTW saw the book of photos of the Challenge yesterday. Absolutely stunning photos and a well produced book by PBR. Certainly one to look at.

A great video thanks for taking the time and effort to share it with us.

The west coast of Ireland can be quite rough. Trev if doing the event again is there any further mods that you would make to the rib.

Would you add extra weight to the bow?

TSM.

The bow had about 40 Kg of extra weight in that we had two fuel bladders there that were normally full, as well as our anchor and chain.
Between them they balanced the boat really well.

The only thing I'd change is not mounting the fire extinguisher on the pod behind the 2nd suspension seat. It did act as a good bump-stop though.
We were quite surprised it didn't go off!

That is one impressive little RIB . The RI13 event tended to split into two groups, the big boats and the little boats. Sometimes the big boats set off first,on other legs the little boats set off first. Baby Blue was a little boat but didn't seem to know it. When we hit a really nasty sea we thought that the little boats would really suffer only to be overtaken by a flying Baby Blue! A really well balanced well helmed RIB a credit to you Trevor

Great vid. Just shows how different length boats in different wave patterns can have v surprising results. Well done all for getting around Ireland. Tough and v resilient crews. Hour after hour, day after day is energy sapping.

At what height above the deck was the suspension seat mounted?

The seat base was set 430mm from the deck - this was the height recommended by Coastal Pro for my height. If you're under 5'9 they might want to be a bit lower.
