Tube fit

some of you may have expressed an interest in how tubes are fitted so here's a brief picture guide of how it's done....

I may have put this in the wrong place Mr Kennet....please forgive me!!!

Then they'll need masking up, sanding and glueing.

Tip top set of piccies Ed -
tell me how do you maintain a vacuum in your workshop long enough to allow the hull to rotate in space like that?
And can the fitters hold their breath long enough?
Good way to help ease the fitting though! much better than lying under the boat trying to do it!
PS nice looking boat that but best not start down that road eh?

Ed? You missed out the most important part... as testified to by Mr Tilley..... First lever of the top of a new can of glue...... then inhale for a short while.... then try it... the world seems so much better then...

Don't try this at home, folks, it takes years of practice before you're qualified.....don't believe Ed's "here's one we made earlier".. if it was that easy, everyone would be doing .....

Believe it or not it takes longer to fit the tubes than to build them, you're usually looking at 16 man hrs to fit something like the shakey in the pics, that obviously increases for the bigger stuff!

After a couple of years of doing this the toluene starts to run through your veins and hydrocarbons are just an everyday meal!
