Video of trip down the river Rance

A few CI ribnetters mentioned they wanted to go down to Dinan sometime. It would be more than possible to go from Jersey in a day - GJ0KYZ you have been challenged!! Here is the video of when we went last week, just get the right day tides-wise and you're laughing. We went for lunch and most of the afternoon.

I've already been up the Rance; I did it a few years ago. I didn't go as far as Dinan though.

Yeah I know, but it's pointless if you don't go all the way!

Don't wind him up, jet skis are probably banned anyway.

I only had an hour or so as I was pushed for time. I seem to remember the bit of the estuary as far as Saint Suliac was fairly boring. I also found the people who man the barrage lock to be pretty ignorant; they refused to answer my radio calls despite looking out the window and watching me on the mike. I had planned to go to Dinan this summer but I think it's getting a bit late for that. I must go some time though as it does look very pretty.

There is a nice camp site in St Malo that over looks the entrance to the Rance and when you get up to Dinan a 3* Great Western hotel with swimming pool as a place to stop over and take in the sites. The view from the town is breath taking. Tie the rib up to the bank next to the Great Western and let the harbour master know, he is in the old worldy shop on the other side of the canal.
