Warships, Ribs, sons'n'guns!

What a day I had yesterday
Invited on board HMS Iron Duke as part of familes day. She sailed out into the Solent and did some capability demonstrations. High speed manouevres, 'go fast' attack repelling, rib launch and recovery under way, man overboard (bouy) with swimmer rescue (didn't envy the swimmer) Lynx helicopter and a guided in depth tour of the ship.
Weather was perfect, great visibility and the sea gradually rising to make the rib recovery challenging (well I thought so)
Very nice meal back at Gunwharf and then the bonus of meeting Ben (Jizm) on my way back (atrocious weather to drive home in)
Some pic's, do we know the folks in pic 1?

Yeah yeah, very nice.

I'm a touch jealous. Frankly, I have no opportunities for that sort of thing. Ever since blagging my way onto that SAR helo, I'm running out of steam.

I'm gonna have to put some pressure on my SAR insiders

Plenty of Dope, youngest son (black jacket) tripped and fell UP one of the ladders, tried to hurdle the top of the casing as he did so (about 12" high) caught his knee on the edge and 360'd onto the deck!
Middle one took a dozen or so pic's on his iphone but had hit the reverse button, lovely pics of his face in close up!
Yeah, I'm their dad
