Jono, Brings back memories.

We used to do that sort of thing many years ago with a Recovery Landrover and a steel bath. Went great until the Landy did a swift turn at 30 mph, ejected my mate who then took all the skin off his back, and had to spend three weeks lying on his front before he could get up. I give that sort of lark up after hanging on to the windscreen wipers of a Ford Escort at 40 mph on the same beach. Scared the living daylights out of me. Funny what you do when your young.

The best fun is doing a u turn with on the land and one the sea, we have about got it. The wind screen wipers dont tend to work very well with the bow wave.

Jono

My favourite is towing a sledge down the lane in the snow behind the car in winter.

When I was younger my mum used to tow my go-cart down there behind her 2cv. Great fun

Ouch - bang goes that six year anti corrosion warranty if Land Rover see it

Good fun though, used to do a similar thing with a sleigh behind a quad ATV in the winter here.

Speaking of new Land Rovers and salt water... made us weep seeing 2 brand new vehicles do this

Saw something in one of the mags a couple of years back about landies being used out on cockle beds, and amazingly they'd lasted for years without any chassis corrosion, but then they did have quite a thorough jetwashing at the end of every shift. Don't think I'll bother trying that in my Disco, would end up with more water inside it than out. Looks fun though.

The favourite round here in winter is sledging on car bonnets. Bit iffy if you slide forward and catch the locking mechanism though!

You are lucky to be able to get at a beach with a vehicle. The miserable gits around most of South Wales have heard that people actually ENJOY such activities so they have BANNED it. Even Pendine sands that had a history of motorsports was closed off even though the locals wanted it to stay open!!!

A classic is at Cefn Sidan near Pembrey - there is a track leading to the beach which has proper road signs on it along etc which show it's suitable for a 4x4 - they just tell you to take care. When you go further down the track there are a load of boulders the size of a Defender blocking the track.

Obviously nobody would take their 4x4 on a busy beach in the summer but when you have about 20 miles to play with that is totally deserted it just makes my blood boil - maybe allowing 4x4s onto the beaches could save a few lives - just ask the poor fisherman who staggered ashore after hours in the Sea - he had miles to crawl before he found help!!!
