I have a Rupert 26 myself and I am very satisfied.
(Except for the f... 250 V-MAX HPDI engine witch blow a pistons every 40 hours.. I' am on my third engine this season...)

What do you mean by Yam probs? I'd remember Petrov having some difficulties at the beginning of the season, but not more at this forum at least...?

BTW, I inspected this big Rupert at boat show earlier this year. Once I get to my office, I'll post more pictures :-)

3,3 litre HPDI 2004 - probs maybe...

(250 and 300 HPDI).

I know two other guys with the same 3,3 litre engine, both have blown
their engines at least once this summer. Loses compression on one of the
port cylinder (hole in the piston). I have had my Rupert full of
"japs", PC's and cables.... everything seems ok.. and 5 hours later..
BANG (again).

Yamaha stopped selling them in Scandinavia late this summer.

Or maybe we Norwegians are a bit "trottle-crazy" ??

No problem on the 2,7 litre as I have heard of. (150 and 200)

After 2 blown 250's I got my money back - and borrowed a new 200 HPDI.
60 hours - no problems. The 250's did manage 39 and 34 hours...

Totaly right, been having major probs with these engines.
Sorry to here about your VMAX HPDI, been driving them a lot without any probs.

Ketil thanks for the info it seems that the HPDIs are not that great. I'm sticking with old 2-stroke technology. Better to pay a bit more fuel than change pistons every so often

Kjetil, where have you heard this, i blown my lowest piston 3 times, 2 times on starboard and once on portside engine.

means... "Mens boats.."

Petrov: Tjenare! From who: Yamaha Motor Scandinavia.
I'am not sure its always the port cylinder bank. First they sayd
"wrong 2-stroke oil", "problems with the fuel line/capacity" or "brake in not good enough". But later on this season they "changed their mind".

Another thing I'am not sure of is if the probs are mostly on RIB's or not.
People from Yamaha in Japan borrowed my Rupert and made a lot of
"mesurements", mapping, and so on - they showed interest in rib's in particular (borrowed many different types, and mapped the engines).

The service was great all the time by the way - and that's important.

Been having Yamaha on my boat to after they brooke down first time, i left boat the other day (for the third time) and it`s ´gonna be interesting to hear what they say this time.
I agree that the service been great, but sometimes i feel that they always trying to say that it`s my fault that engines break down.
