You've heard of SIBs......
but let me introduce you to what I am sure is going to be the next craze, the "mini-RIB" or M-RIB!
Yes spurred on by Grizzly Harts tales of derring do I have conducted extensive testing of a mini-RIB in the hostile waters of the Newfoundland coast.
A whole 2.4m of Zodiac "Zoom" RIB powered by a 8hp Evinrude 4 stroke. 20kts with one up but getting on to the plane can be interesting as one has to lean well forward and tiller steer with your fingertips only. Once on the plane the craft is a pure joy to handle, a galloping thoroughbred in fact (oopps lapsing into Hugo MS speak). Coming off the plane is traumatic though as the tiller tries to get away from the coxn's iron grip if you are not careful.
Not too sure what her RCD category is, didnt manage to stuff her and was disapointed that she wasnt equipped with a chartplotter and radar but a fine little craft.
M-RIBing. They way forward!
