It's me I am back and very pissed off!.. my thoughts on the perpitrators are quite dark at the moment!
What really pisses me off is that we have just spent about 10k and 200 hours totally refurbishing the boat. New Opti reupholstered beautiful rewiring job , new fuel lines , new elecronics ( it was my fault for letting David Manning drive it! ) and that money and effort doesn't come back from the insurance company!
So the reward is actaully quite considerable ( 2k!)
apart from that I haven't driven the boat with the new Opti after it was run in! grrrrrr!
Jon Brooks thank you for your kind words I probably wont call the replacemt 'Ikom Sukks II ' now

Guys, whilst one hates shutting the door after the horse has gone, there are several affordable devices that could help prevent or deter theft, but it depends on your rapid response I suppose. September issue of MBM has a feature on such devices. At random, there is the Yacht Watch NMEA which can plug into your on-board GPS, send you a text message when it gets disturbed, and when you interrogate it via mobile, will tell you it's position. Price: £459 inc VAT from Compulogic. www.protectyourproperty.com Like other units, this can monitor weather, bilge and battery power and send you info via on-board modem to your mobile. You can also plug in a range of other sensors. It uses on-board power so it might be sensible to install it's own dedicated power-pack.
Other units enable you to send commands which activate a loud siren and have their own dedicated power supply.
My investment totals almost £30K and although I have the boat well hidden, it is also not able to be visually checked by anyone, making theft a doddle. I am certainly looking into these "big-boat" devices.

Mr Rogue
I check all around Northney, i also asked them to keep an eye out in the Marina
If we all keep an eye out in the UK, you mentioned it may have gone abroad. Is there any checks that can be done..e.g i'm sure there cannot be that many ribs being shipped out from the UK - just a idea?

Horrible. I know I only have a Solent 6.5m but if you want to borrow / lease it for training give me a call - I am sure we can work something out.

Stu, Very sad to hear of this. I'll keep an eye open for it. I see also that you've placed it on stolen boats site.
We link to that so I hope it helps. If we can help in any way then shout.
Regards
Brian

I doubt very much
if Andy would risk damaging his handbag, he needs it when he's cruising for Punters on Southsea Promenade!

Wheel clamp ??
What type of wheel clamp was on it ? I use a bulldog and it appears to be built like a brick sh*t house ! At the moment the rib is on a marina but it will be coming out in a few weeks and the clamp will be back in use.
