Christchurch Harbour
Christchurch is a lovely harbour, but watch out for the shallows. I sail my laser in there about once a year and it does dry out a fair bit. Stick to the channels and you'll be fine. Nothing is better than sailing flat out and hitting a sandbank!
Another map of the area can be found here - http://www.mudefordsailingclub.org.u...%20map%201.jpg
i'd also recommend a trip up the river to christchurch itself
I would have liked to have done this trip myself, but already have plans for this weekend and the RIB is not part of the plans! (Unfortunately!!)

Watch out for lobster pots and nets in Chistchruch Bay, and as I mentioned earlier the channel markers at the entrance are unlikely to be in yet, BUT there is a line of yellow markers I believe. The main shallow bit is just before you get into the Run. Best thing I have found is to take it either slow >6knots or planing if you try to go two fast off the plane the arse digs in and you may touch the bottom, all sand though At high tide you should be fine.
I have done it at low springs, but I did have to roll my trousers up! Have a good weekend.

As promised:
Forecast Issued on Friday, 17 February 2006
General Situation:
A very unsettled spell of weather as a series of troughs or frontal systems cross the area. Friday, generally a showery scenario but an occluded front is expected to run northwards into the area overnight. On Saturday the front will run northwards to give a brief drier spell before the next system arrives during Sunday morning. This low pressure area is expected to become slow moving over the near continent bring plenty of rain for Kent and Sussex.
Saturday:
Outbreaks of rain during the morning will slowly peter out to leave many places dry by mid afternoon. Wind, light and variable 2m/s. A minimum of 2 degrees Celcius and a maximum of 7 degrees celcius. Rainfall can be expected between 2 and 7 mm across the Isle of Wight. Wind is expected to be generally of low speed but the strongest period will be very early on Saturday morning.
Are the "possibles" now in a position to confirm??
Chris

I've just got back from visiting cowes (popped over to talk to a "man about some boats" )....
Stayed bone dry on the way over, and the wind chill was cold but not uncomfortable... on the way back, had a some stronger gusts which kept blowing the spray into the boat
I can't wait till tomorrow now

Wow, what a great day for it!
It didn't rain, the water was only rough where it should have been - couldnt have had a better day for this time of year!
Although I did manage to touch the bottom slightly while going into christchurch harbour while coming down from wave :|... but only gently, and it was mud - so no damage done thankfully.
Managed to get some video footage - but due to some slight operator error - there isn't as much footage as I'd hope - I havent used the camera for ages .... so was expected !
I need to find my old video capture card and I will get the footage onto the pc, and into a format to show others.
Nice to meet everyone that was there today (Can't remember all of yours names sorry :S), we had a cracking day and hope to do it again soon!

We touched the bottom too. Removed paint from the skeg - was only repainted a couple of weeks back after getting stuck on Ryde Sands a year ago! Great day - loads of fun, thanks for arranging it!

No video yet Benc?
Here are some pics, very atmospheric I must say, of us putting the Barrier II to bed back in London!!
I am sooooo glad of those services on the M3. After a long day on the water and then a drive back I'm normally totally s@#gged. Thank god for Costas coffee!!
Unfortunately no pics of us out on the water so my crew is banished from boating for a week!
