Why not try for another day. The next suitable ones are Sat 24th May (HW Looe 1510hrs) although this is a half term weekend, or Sat 7th June (HW Looe 1320hrs) or Sat 21st June (HW Looe 1325hrs)

What do you all think?
I think the forecast will bin the weekend so let's make the call-- we're off.

Once I'm home I'll see when I'm free on the date options, but pick one and run with it. One day this run will happen.....

General Situation

Unsettled weather continues to dominate and a deepening area of low pressure will move eastwards across the United Kingdom during Saturday and Sunday, bringing very windy conditions and rough or high seas to many southern or southwestern areas.

Def too rough for me shipping forecast gale 8 - severe 9!!

Look forward to a new date!!

Haven't heard from Ian Austin yet saying what a bunch of lightweights we are and "what's wrong with gale 8 or 9".

We can look forward to his ribald remarks soon, I suspect.http://www.rib.net/forum/images/smilies/thumbs.gif

Alright Peter
I do recognize that some lesser people have smaller ribs and balls than me .
The reason I have the rib I do is to rescue in the worst possible weather and also because I like getting the adrenalin rush and being known as a complete ********

Well Sat 24 May is good for us - no family birthdays / wedding anniversaries that weekend! Gets my vote.
21 June good for me too - 1 week before IoW

Just a note on Sat 24th May, my son is hoping to be doing the RYA Honda Youth Rib Championships on the 24th, the competition SW Finals are in Plymouth that day organised by the Mountbatten Centre, the course last year was set out in Jennycliff bay. I will pop out and say hello or do some of the route if its on that day, but doubt I will be able to do the whole event.

24th is good for me. Having an event in the locality seems a great day to go as we can watch from the best seats, but then again it means slipways will be busy and sirib can't come and play.

I can clear the 21st June as well if people would prefer not to watch the racing.

Ian A showing a little contrition, I don't believe it!!!

Saw the stainless sheets for your transom yesterday, them's mighty meaty. You'll need trim tabs to level you off once its all in, ha, ha.

Peter
I know everyone is not like me and enjoy getting out In the very rough stuff, which is why I managed nearly 200hrs last year, who many did you manage

The stainless Its only for keeping the transom and engines of the rib in place, as they want to go there own way.

Hi, Newbie here!

I'm up for a ride out for a pasty and tea! Should be available any weekend (have to get the brakes on the trailer fixed first though.....!)
Also, would need some help launching/retrieving.... but I'm up for it! Would have to drive from Suffolk but could leave on a Thursday or Friday.....
Let me know if you're going.....
Thanks

Lets make a decision - we'll try for the 24th May. Same run times as before. Leaving the Breakwater Fort at 12.00.

Should be plenty to see and watch with the racing and loads of water to launch, enter Looe and recover back at Plymouth.

In case of bad weather we can have as plan C the 21st June.

This year we will get a pasty!!!

If this weather holds it's going to be a cracking day out - but not holding my breath yet.

Current score;

Weather 3 - Pasties 0

Does anyone know if the racing will affect launch / recovery ability or capacity at Mountbatten?
It is my preferred launch point, but don't to arrive & be told " you can't launch today because of our main event"

Good thought - would be worth giving them a ring and asking - Mount Batten Centre - Contact Us

I'm going to jump in at Saltash, means ten minutes in the river but should be quieter.
