5th Annual Plymouth Pasty run - 6th May 2017
Folks
As it's cold out it means planning time.
We are looking at this years Pasty Run taking place on May the 6th but instead of a Cornish pasty we're going for a Devon one at Salcombe!!
High water is 1545 so I'm thinking a 12.00 jump off from the Breakwater fort will give a good level of water for launching before the C20 nm run to the estuary.
We'll partake of the famous Salcombe Deli pasty and a mug of something wet before heading back to Plymouth around the top of the tide.
Hope to see you all there.

Hi Andy,
As we disicussed this evening, how about widening it up a bit with an option for boats to start from an more easterly point as well, RV-ing off Salcombe at the given time then all tootling in for refreshment together?
I'd be happy to co-ordinate a rally point off Brixham or Dartmouth if there's interest from people based that way.
Cheers,
Bob

Bob
There does seem to be some interest in the Eastern jump off with Sue launching from Brixham and Rich running from Exmouth if you wanted an extra 10nm or so?
I'm guessing you'd be leaving 1200 ish from Torbay?
Sue will be camping at Brixham the Friday and Saturday if anyone wanted an excuse to stay over?

Hi Andy,
That would be about right. Suggest an RV off Shoalstone c.1200, for any Torbay boats - or from further up the coast, secondary RV off the Homestone Buoy c.1230 for anyone coming out of Dartmouth. Salcombe by 1345ish for tea and pasties.
High tide Torbay 1525. low tide 0940 & 2210.
Tides mean I'll need to start from Brixham not the Dart.
Looking forward to it.
Bob

3 weeks to go......is there a view on numbers from either Plymouth or Torbay / Dartmouth end?
Loks like good forecast over his Easter weekend. Will be roaming the S. Devon coast[emoji1]

Evening.
That 3 weeks will soon pass
From what I can see from both here and the facebook invite we have about 4 coming from the East and the same number from Plymouth.
There is a gathering in Wales that has taken a few of the hopeful attendees but it looks as if we'll have plenty for a play.
Were going to go for a play on the North Coast tomorrow, as it looks good this end for a change - Appledore on the tide at 9 is the plan.

Folks
Less then a week to go now!!
The good news is the weather is just about ok on the forecast, will be watching closely all week with fingers crossed.
As I see it we have 4 boats coming from the East, and 6 from Plymouth.
Those from the East the suggestion is RV off Shoalstone c.1200, for any Torbay boats - or from further up the coast, secondary RV off the Homestone Buoy c.1230.
Plymouth leavers to meet at the fort for a 1200 leave, with a cup of tea at Bovisands if anyone is on the water before then.
The suggest channel is channel 8, with the call sign off 'pasty run fleet' until individual call signs are sorted out.
Mine is Nutkn Too at Plymouth and I believe we have Lunasea running up from Brixham.
Devon pasties await

Just firming up on the run from the Eastern End
LT am 0951
HT Torquay1622
If we go for 1200 RV with 1215 departure off Shoalstone Pool, and assume 20kt cruise speed 21.1NM or thereabouts depending on how straight I drive My route keeps 1.5NM off Start.
Puts us
1235 -Mewstone
1250-Skerries buoy
1305 - Round Start
1320 - Prawle Point
1330 - off Salcombe
ish
We can carry on West until we find the Plymouth group if we're ahead of schedule.
If anyone wishes to join from Dartmouth, RV off Mewstone South Buoy c.1230.
Suggest CH8 as working channel
Looking forward to the run, and for good weather.
LT

Watching the weather closely as it seems to be changing daily at present.
We started off fine, wind was then forecast at F7 now droped to a 4 which is fine - however rain has also now appeared which wasn't there before.
If we have too much wind that's simple, it takes us up river to Calstock, if we have rain too it takes us to a pub as that's no fun.
The Sunday is a different story however and does look rather better weather wise.
Will keep watching and see what it brings - cross those fingers and could people drop to a plan B of Sunday if we need to?

Hi Andy,
Might be a push Calstock from Torquay!
Nowt wrong with a "drop" of rain
If you push back to Sun, I won't be able to make it - eldest daugher is rowing on the Olympic course at Eaton Downey (0500 start for that one)
Let's see what tomorrow brings(..I feel a song coming on ). I'll give you a bell in the evening
