Hi Guys, how many of you will still go if the weather conditions are as forecast i.e. 20 knot NE wind? We are relatively inexperienced - PB2 and 18 months in own boat - but we've not been out in these conditions before. We have all the kit - "All the gear, no idea"- clothing and safety wise, so if most of you, especially the other 6m boats, are happy to go we'll make the trip down and see how it goes. We're up for a challenge and getting out of our comfort zone a bit, and being in experienced company would certainly help our confidence. We'd appreciate your thoughts and advice offered, and hopefully we look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.
ps. We really like Nachos :-)
pps. Avocet, I don't have your mobile no. in case we need to bail at short notice.

FoxZulu, sooner or later you will have to get some bad weather experience. Perhaps Sunday is the day for you and better safe in numbers as you will not be alone.
This is your call and if you decide not to come down I do not think anybody will hold it against you.

Andre, we have not met but I will be ready to leave SDS around 9.30am if you want to set off together. I could do with picking up fuel at Hythe if it's open en route otherwise I will have enough to get to Yarmouth
Invite goes out to any others leaving from SDS or close proximity
Regards
Iain

Hi Iain good idea as I plan to arrive at SDS before 9 am. Paul Cannel is also arriving at a similar time so we can leave together to meet up with the Hamble group at Calshot

Steve & Sarah,
We'll be going from Hamble in a 6.5m with the weather as forecast. I'd suggest that given the wind direction and the number of other boats around this would be a good day to try out some more interesting weather in safe conditions with lots of others around.

Hi all
Myself and Lee are still planning to come along subject to weather conditions. As mentioned we will be in a 7.8 ballistic and will hover around the Hamble entrance. My mobile is 07979040830 if you wish to contact me
Fingers crossed the weather is kind on Sunday
Regards, James

Hi Foxzulu,
As other have said, you should be in company for the trip, which give a great boost to cconfidence and helps build experience. I'd never done a run in fog before last years run - wouldn't have done it solo.
If you find it too uncomfortable, theres no shame in turning back. It is about ejoying yourself not pushing yourself beyond your and your crews limits.

Thanks for the advice and support guys. We're intending to get down to MDL at Hamble Point for 0900 so that we have plenty of time to get sorted. Looking forward to meeting you all, having a good day on the water, and learning lots

Totally agree with the sentiment of experiencing challenging conditions in numbers, I wouldn't want to do this in my 6M rib on my own, but in numbers I'm looking forward to it.... tally ho 😬

Hi all, apologies for the late arrival to the thread, I didn't realise quite how much organisation was happening here, I have been following a Facebook page instead!
Is there room for another small one out of Southampton ? If it's too late to officially sign up, I'd still love to tag along for the ride if that's okay? I'm a 6.5m Rib-X in white & blue, named AFTICA

There's no "Official", although sometimes numbers are limited if visiting secluded camping sites or landings. Worth a read: RIBnet Forums - Announcements in Forum : Upcoming RIB cruises
Welcome to RIBnet, BTW!

A bit late to the party but I’m aiming to join you on Sunday
Hopefully more successful than the abandoned attempt last year due to the fog!
Coming from Saxon Wharf so I’ll keep an eye out for those from SDS or meet at Calshot
RIB is 7m XS, name JJ, single crewed
Cheers, Paul

You guys kill me! Weather forecast now F6 off The Needles and light cloud coming in and you're still signing up. Grimalkin is still good to go from Poole but it's getting borderline.
Hamble to Yarmouth (for FoxZulu et al) will be a blast. The return journey may be a little more testing but armed with Nachos and company should only take an hour (although it may seem longer!). Here's an updated list: anything to fill the '?'s would be helpful.

I will be at SDS tomorrow morning if the weather is 'really really bad' then I will clean the boat & have lunch in a pub & if it's as forecast then the boat will get a seawater wash & I'll still have lunch in a pub.
