9th Annual Nacho Run: 7 January 2018
With Christmas once again getting close, it's time to be thinking (as some already are!) of the 9th Annual Nacho Run to Yarmouth (IoW). With it being traditionally held on the first Sunday after New Year's Day it looks like 7 January 2018 this time (sorry Trev: I know you can't make it then but we'll arrange an alternative soon!).
It's a chance to blow away the Christmas/New Year cobwebs and get a spicy start to the next twelve months!
As in previous years: 12.30pm at The Wheatsheaf in Yarmouth unless people want otherwise.
It always helps to notify at least approximate numbers to the pub in advance but Mrs A and I are certainly hoping to be there! I look forward to hearing from those that hope to come and, in the meantime, with you all the best for Christmas and the New Year.
David

Hi David
See you there for sure . At the moment I can only confirm myself as Mrs A had a op on her foot so ribbing is not on.
Leaving SDS about 10 AM
Rain or snow will keep me at home

Hi David, +2. We are definitely up for this, weather permitting of course. We will launch from Hamble Point and hopefully tag along with some other Ribnetters.

I should be leaving Southampton Dry Stack just after 10 so look up "Grey Mist" on AIS and we could meet off Hamble Point

Hope to make Nacho run if weather is kind, (it's long way from Norfolk) leaving from SDS.

Hi David,
I'd love to make this run again this year - weather and crew permitting.
If I read my tables right:
high tide Yarmouth 14:38.
Warsash:- high tide 14:15....so may be looking for an alt. Southampton Water / Hamble launch site -advice welcome from anyone.
Please order less fog this time!
Merry Christmas to you, Mrs A, and to all Ribnetters.
Bob

Hi Paul,
Mercury is a potential launch site for me too, running down from Gloucester.
Can please you remind me of how long +/- high tide the slip is accessible - from memory it and the creek pretty much dry out. I wouldn't want to miss the window especially on recovery
Cheers
LT

Morning LT I’m in Gloucester too! I haven’t used this site yet I normally use Calshot although some friends are using mercury this time and are confident it’s usable at most of the state. On the boat launch website I think it advises 2 hours either side of h/w

Hi Paul,
It's the HW +/-2 that concerns me. HW is at 1504 on 7 Jan.
No problem recovering - will want to be off the water by c. 1600 latest
Launching may be the issue - I'd want to be on the water by c. 1030 only 2 hrs after LW.
Calshot may be the better bet if they still have the pontoon by the little slip on the north side? I think that's ok HW +/-3. When single handed yuo need to be able to tie up to move the car etc....
I'll drop you a pm with my details.

Hi LT .. I launched last year for the Nacho run at very low tide ...it has a very long concrete slip, worst case scenario we can quickly zip down to Hamble point, a bit pricier but a good an B.
See below for my launch last year at Mercury.
