Just to add to Tim's top tips.
For the latest weather on this side have a look at our site:
http://www.alderneymarine.com/info/index.html
From that page there is a seven day forecast via Windfinder, the local shipping forecast, wind history stats for the Channel Light Vessel and here plus tides and all sorts of handy gubbins like that.
Tim, you have Mel's mobile number if you can pass that about in any coms I am sure she will not mind. Feel free to call with any last minute questions.
The mooring buoys are generally full up most weekends at the moment, so bear in mind you might need to raft up. Having said that the Friday arrival will make a big difference and any German towels on buoys will be dealt with. lol
As it stands nothing is booked for wining and dining, let me know if firm arrangements are required.
We will be listening out on the Floptilla VHF channel and can always be reached on M2.

Not sure about eating at the club with F&C, but will ask. We can certainly eat on the chippy's own patio.

That sounds good, it will be a DIY affair but we can certainly buy in the meat, spuds and greed stuff Saturday morning.
Can someone volunteer to be grill chef please?
Price is going to be about 40 quid for the barbie and a fiver a head for the ingredients. Any special requests, other than the world class local dairy herd beef?

Arrangements are in place to open the Sailing Club bar on friday afternoon ready for the first boats arriving, although unfortunately the bar will have to shut at about 1430 to allow for afternoon tea and cakes to be served (I know, it does nothing for the hard earnt reputation of 2,000 drunks clinging to a rock). However, there is no 'drinking up' time limit, so you can line them up to tide you over until the bar reopens at 1800 if you wish.
Upshot of all this being, if you get there quick enough you can quench your thirst with alcohol, if not, you'll have to make do with tea . If weather makes for a delayed arrival, and by general consensus it is beer-o'clock, rather than tea-o'clock then the venue can be moved to the Mooring's or Diver's instead.
The bar will be reopened again on Saturday at a time to suit the next tranche of arrivals. As with last year, the thanks will need to go to my mother for opening and running the club bar for us.

Erins Mum is brilliant she not only runs the club but teaches Yachtmaster Theory among other things , we were made so welcome last year so the least we can do is put the beer tokens into the sailing club coffers.
Any mackerel about as fancy some fishing on Sat for the BBQ surf and turf Islander style.

Ok every one who is coming we depart Needles safewater mark 1030 .
arrive Alderney 1330 ish cruising speed 22 knots .
Those that want to speed across at a faster speed let me know as we can organise two groups.
any volunteers to shadow the jetskis please.
Am keeping a eye on the weather nothing accurate enough until the week before.
If you have not added your name to the list there is plenty of time, important thing is to book your accommodation.
Ta Tim

I just wrote my long range forecast for the local paper, obviously just a rough outlook for the last two weeks of July, but all indications are very good.
You wont get a really reliable forecast for here until the Wednesday. So long as there is no wind due from 0º and 90º and no residual swell from the Atlantic you should be fine.
When I came back from Dartmouth this week it was a lumpy F5 on the English side and exactly half way I drove out into bright sun and a cheeky little F3.

No availability at the Braye Beach.
Might have to take the 5* tent option.
