Another potential participant
Interested in spending a week in the Channels Islands.
3rd/4th ideal for outward passage.
Volantis is a 6.4m Rib-X
Haven't done a cross channel under power before so traveling in company would be a great help.
Hope to clarify plans over next couple of days. Will keep watching this thread.
Cheers, Ian

As far as I know, Alex and Paul are taking 2 x 585's either today, Sunday or Monday and are camping in Alderney with their families for just under 2 weeks.
cgf10 and Trevor G are probably going out in 2 x Shearwater ribs on Thursday or Friday (depending on the weather) and coming back probably on Sunday.
I think Neil Harvey is going to come out whenever cgf10 and Trevor G go - but again it will depend on weather etc.

I've a very narrow few days off so weather permitting have a borrowed rib launching Southampton Thur night to cross Friday and back Sunday.
Nelson in stormxhaser may leave early this week and run down the French coast arriving about Friday.
There's therefore a plan B for me and Mrs Daniel to catch them up jump aboard Friday.

I've come to the conclusion I'm trying to do too much, too quickly. Rather than rush preparations I intend joining my wife on the ferry this time.
Would be nice to perhaps meet some of you over there and pick your brains
Have a good voyage.

Hi All, Paul & myself are still planning on leaving tomorrow morning and returning on the 11th.
We are happy with the weather so everything is go
The others will probably keep an eye on the weather and decide later in the week which day they'll cross (prob 4th or 5th).
We will have limited internet access etc so I'll catch up with this thread when we get wifi
Safe crossing you lot! see you at the campsite

Just looked at the chart, it's only 1/2nm from Braye to Saye. Do you drop the gear off in Saye & take the boats around to Braye?

Dave last year, and planning the same tomorrow is boats into braye harbour - land gear ashore, boats onto visitor moorings.
Into supermarket (beer) by harbour then taxi with everything to campsite.

Yes but you have to check in at the harbour masters office first where you'll get a form to fill in and then pop it in the post box. Then you can either get a taxi (sometimes the locals give us a lift) or take your rib to Saye beach to drop your stuff off. I think if you land on the beach first you might be breaking a law?
The only other law I can think of is you can only camp at the campsite and nowhere else on the island. However the Alderney State has invested loads into the campsite with log cabin shower blocks & caffe etc
The atmosphere is absolutely awesome, especially next weekend
When you come into Braye harbour follow the breakwater along to the visitors buoys, a water taxi takes you to the pontoon
If you come we'll meet you on the beach and carry your stuff over the sand dune to the campsite, so you don't have to beach the craft
