Alderney 2016 -
The theme for this years party has now been "revealed" https://www.facebook.com/Alderney-We...83106/?fref=nf
We (family of four with two children) plan to go and camp Thursday to Sunday, Of course it will be weather dependant. I know a few other Ribbers who are planning on coming along from the Solent, we'll be leaving from Poole so anyone who'd like to join us would be warmly welcomed. There are other options other than camping but it seems important to book early as this is a very busy week on the Island.

cgf10 runs a 8.6 Shearwater cabin rib, not sure what I'm taking as yet. There will be others too could be on different days.
We normally all run together but only stay for a few days, but last year was so good myself and a guy called Paul are taking our families out for longer.
I'm sure we did a video of one of the trips and to show the investment from the Alderney State into the campsite, i'll have a look to see which one it was

Here you go, this was Andre's Parker 750 and you can see cgf10, Trevor G and others in the vid.
I do have more footage of the campsite and toilets/facilities if you need it...

I'm hoping that here will be other ribs heading out on the Thursday from either Poole or The Solent that we can cruise in the company of. Anyone thinking of coming over on this day please make yourself known. Channel virgins welcome too - it's a great opportunity to tick off that trip!!

I think you will find Alderney is a bit more than 10 miles from Cherbourg. More like 25.

We should be going on this as well - not sure of dates yet when we'll cross but we'll try and buddy up with someone else going for the company.

Yes you're right for cherbourg but for us we can put the boat at GOURY city, juste in face to alderney. And at this point it's around 10M.

Hi Andre.
I would be interested in coming along for the weekend also. At the moment can do either weekend... or do a long weekend...
Not crossed the channel before in my boat, but its something i've always wanted to do. Therefore doing it with someone else would be great! (and would also keep my insurance company happy...)
Have a Ribcraft 6.4 moored down at Swanwick.
Let me know if you are still intending to do a weekend crossing.
Speak soon
Chris

Paul and myself have changed our plan slightly, our dates are still the same subject to weather etc (1st - 11th Aug) however we are now taking 2 x 585's so we can take our families out while in Alderney.
Had a chat with Trevor G tonight about tidal flows etc
I guess there's still a group coming over on the 4th ready for the weekend?
I'll keep you updated on how things are going for me and Paul and hope to see you soon

We're planning on 4th or 5th (Thursday or Friday) - like you, depending on weather. XCweather only goes out 7 days and currently Wednesday 3rd is looking a bit lively gusting 36mph the night before.
