Remind me of the food plan again. Is it Chippy on the Friday and bbq on the Saturday? What time would you be firing up the bbq? Is would make sense for us to join you just to be sociable.
Is it a bring your own with the beer / food or is there going to be a kitty (those cats again) donation?

2011 Floptilla Cruise
I keep tweaking that page as things get firmed up, so worth keeping an eye on it.
At the moment though:
Friday afternoon - drinkies at the Sailing Club
Friday evening - Chippy (BYO with an offie round the corner)
Saturday daytime - who knows!
Saturday evening - BBQ (again BYO but we will collect anything paid for at the offie in the afternoon)
You are most welcome to join us for the BBQ as well as the Chippy, but we could do with regular updates on numbers. We are hoping to collect money for the Chippy and BBQ from everyone on the Friday afternoon (about 15 quid each for both meals)

We'll be there. Promise I'll post as soon as any changes to numbers take place.

Sort of makes sense, the only possible variation is that we're meeting 2 boats at a waypoint yet to be agreed on the way across. Not too much of a deviation though as they're coming from Poole.
The more the merrier as far as I am concerned

It might be easiest for them to meet everyone at the Needles SWM, but as noted earlier the mobile phone coverage is at the very limit by there.

We'll be starting from Southampton Dry Stack so I'm sure we can co-ordinate our timings to meet up in Southampton.
If you have trouble finding crew, my brother (Phil) is coming with us so we'll have spare bodies if you want company on-board.
Regarding fuel - you can always top-up in Yarmouth so the distance between fuel stops isn't Southampton to Alderney!

We'll probably all be leaving at about the same time from the Itchen then
Good point about topping up in Yarmouth. We're taking spare fuel anyway but shouldn't need it. Just in case

Here's to hoping that the chippy is fully stocked with Rock Salmon. It was delicious last year! you wouldn't think eel could ever be so scrumptious....

Erm, but it's not an eel although it is sometimes called rock eel,
Rock salmon refers to either of two kinds of fish:
The first, also called rock eel, flake, and huss in the UK, is any one of many species of small shark, including the spiny dogfish (Squalus acanthias) or the bull huss (Scyliorhinus stellaris).
Tis tasty though

Fuel etc
We are very much looking forward to seeing you again this year! As mentioned before we can offer you 9p a litre off the petrol station pump price for fuel but it would be great to have an idea of quantities before you arrive. Health and Safety have deemed that having a tank and pump in the Inner Harbour is not up to speck so we are still on cans but believe me that with a couple of years experience it is getting more efficient!
Lets hope summer arrives at some point and the forecast improves!

Adding to complications, GD needs to be off the island all day Sunday, however that will work.

To clarify the arrangement for drinkies on Friday afternoon, the sailing club committee are kindly opening the bar at about 12 to until 3pm - at which time teas and cakes become available.
The Gotchi Clan, Erins, Witch and I will all be there eagerly awaiting the arrival of you all!

Can I join in
Hi all
I'm new to Ribnet and I've just come across this thread. Would be interested in joining the flotilla. How many boats will there be? Am I too late to join in? I'm cruising to Falmouth tomorrow for a few days but should be home by 21 July just in time to dash along the coast to join you. Just as well fuel's cheap at the moment!
Regards
Paul

Hi Paul and welcome
Nope, not too late at all. Nothing will be firmed up anyway until the weather forecast a few days before.
You can probably glean all the various bits of info from the thread and the web page:
2011 Floptilla Cruise
But if there is anything you are not sure about, just ask.

Blatant advertising
If any of the Floptillerers are contemplating an electronics or other chandlery purchase, pre-order before Monday (18th) to get 5% off our web site prices. That represents a saving of up to 35% on UK retail prices for your duty free!
If you want something that is not listed on our site, we will still give you the very best price for collection.
