This is my Part 2 which ends when we approach Alderney
I specially showed the rib at rest when I was removing my windbreaker as the weather was heating up . Here you can see the nice sea conditions
enjoy the video which partially relates to Lee's clip

We were just in t shirts on the way back, cracking weather!
Have fun Thursday, I’m very jealous but work commitments and all that, however chatting to a mate on the island this evening we might pop back later this season ( he runs a revenger 25 ), see what the weathers doing in a few weeks................
Oh, great vid

This is the Return passage. Sadly ran out of space on the chip so no sighting of the IOW
WATERSHED headed off to Poole. KATIE much earlier showed us what 700 HP means and blasted away into the distance. BLACKADDER and GREY MIST headed back alone to the SDS at a nice and comfortable speed of 29/32 knots
Please enjoy the clips as it was a perfect cruise in perfect company

Hello All - We plan to depart Poole at 0930 and head over to Aldereny, wind looks modest for the morning and hoping for a nice crossing.
Andre - want to meet on the radio just after this and hook up. Black Adder will be leaving early, probably, now.
If anyone is interested I am going to try and book a table at The Georgian for tomorrow evening. We'll be 6 including my two teenage sons plus Trevor. Any more Ribnet takers ?

I will leave the SDS about 8:30 and will have to fuel up at the fuel barge and then head for the Needles. I will call you up on the radio from there . I estimate we could be there about 10AM . VHF CH 72 for comms.

I won’t be able to join you for a meal but will do my best to pop down and say hello. Would be unfortunate if I have to have a beer too!

Would be great to see you again - it seems like only a few days since we were over last!

Met up with cgf10 off the Needles by fairway buoy about 11 yesterday morning and in two ribs headed for Alderney where we split up and Grey Mist headed for Jersey arriving about 4 PM . An interesting passage [emoji106]

I bet it was. Could be even more so on your return! Looks like tomorrow (Saturday) is the only break in the wind before next Wednesday.

Due to the change in the weather we left St Helier at 11:30 and arrived SDS at 17:45. An excellent crossing where the Alderney Races were totally flat but interesting. Photos and Go Pro to follow
Erin good advice . Many thanks

I forgot to mention but I was joined on this cruise by John Haynes - Mr Shock mitigation himself. What a privilege? John had connected a scientific device to monitor the shocks and the G forces throughout the duration of the voyage. John is an amazing guy who opened my eyes to shock mitigation. It was John's idea to put SKYDEX shock mitigation flooring on Grey Mist. This trip to Jersey and back again proved to me the advantages of SKYDEX flooring.
the decision to leave one day earlier was taken during breakfast and once taken we had 1 hour and 15 minutes to pack, grab a taxi load the gear on the rib and get out of the marina. We just about made it.
Blow'N'Away and Superfly are returning today I hope they will have a good and safe crossing.
Paul Cannell did offer us a room on Alderney and travel today but we just wanted to keep going. Paul many thanks again
here are some photos taken during the two passages
Photo 1 , Superfly on route to Alderney. Dorset coast in the distance
Photo 2 , John at the helm
Photo 3, somewhere near Jersey
Photo 4, Jersey
Photo 5, Alderney Tidal Races , photo taken on Saturday on the return trip. It was like that all the way up past Alderney. This gave us an opportunity to go 30/32 knots and more
No rain during the crossing of the English Channel . First drizzle was at the Needles so no complaints here

I have posted the data from Marine Traffic showing the return route and the info from my Simrad . It seems that we used 85 L of fuel to Jersey but 208,6 L from Jersey to Southampton. I know the engines like the speed between 26 and 29 knots and that is the most economical cruising speed . On the way back we were most of the way doing 30-36 knots. I gather this is the reason for the high fuel consumption.
Diesel in Jersey 64p/ltr NICE
Last week it was a great challenge for my Parker 800 Baltic with a cruise last Saturday to Alderney and some 5 days later a cruise to Jersey. She coped very well in the rough with speeds which surprised John. One issue only as on the return trip the bracket on the electric horn gave in and I had to secure it with cable ties

and a few more shots. My Go Pro clips will follow
In Jersey I met Steven the new owner of Nauti Buoy a Parker 900 Baltic rib which some members may remember as she was operated by Richard from Port Solent. This is the first season for Steven and he is highly delighted with the rib providing private charter and rib trips for visitors to Jersey

I planned this cruise at the end of May and Mrs A was to fly out on Thursday. Well she never did as EasyJet cancelled her flight on Thursday having waited 5 hours at Gatwick then they did the same on Friday. Sad and a ruined weekend

Glad to hear you had a good trip back. I don't think the wind picked up quite as much as forecast but I reckon it was still the right decision to go when you did.
Likewise we returned from Alderney to Jersey at a similar time on Saturday (in our MB rather than the rib) and had a resaonable sea state although it was bit of wind against tide as we came down towards the east coast of Jersey. There was also a long rolling swell. We gained almost 3kts along the south coast of Jersey with the tide in our favour.
The Race always intrigues me with its oily whirlpools - quite mesmerising yet so powerful. Wasn't quite as calm for us as you can see below.
By coincidence we took Nauti-Buoy's spot in La Colette as he was leaving just as we returned.

Just a few photos of our trip to Alderney. Left thursday and returned Sunday,
Camping at Saye Beach again. Generally warm for the entire stay although we did have a couple of small storms it didn’t dampen the fun or adventure. This year we walked around the entire island which was a first (about 10.5miles) and enjoyed great bands at The Butes.I’m surprised not more ribs come over for this, it’s a nice adventure, not difficult with acceptable weather forecasts and a unique experience of any age. Hope to see you next year.

cgf10, Nice photos . Do you have any good ones of Grey Mist? PM me your email address and I will send you what i took of Superfly.
I think next year I may stay in Alderney but in a hotel or rented house as I do not camp.
