I know that the fishing boat spindrift from Holyhead is always taking birdwatchers there to stay but I think that they have dedicated accommodation because if I remember right they stay there for a couple of weeks at a time.

I would be up for it if allowed, Pikey Dave hadd and myself did a round Anglesey camping fishing weekend last year and had a great time I'm sure that they would be up for it as well. Here's the link from last year. http://www.rib.net/forum/f16/round-a...ics-43160.html

I've camped at the Brickyard, but only by car... I've seen the bay go from calm to caos too many times to risk an overnight mooring...

The skerries should be safe enough tho, infact I had a run in with some ars****ole in a big green boat (ex fishing trawler or similar) at the skerries in the past who proclaimed that no one should even step foot on the island... I spoke to Trinity House and they explained you can go on most of the year , with exception to a couple of months due to the Turns nesting... They were very helpful and friendly, It might be worth a quick call to ask the question.....

On a side note my dad once slept the night in the lighthouse with the keeper after a storm kicked up, he took the lighthouse keeper a loaf of bread, bottle of milk and a paper whenever the sea allowed for years after.... then they replaced the keeper with a lap top... bad times !

the skerries is a great place, ive lost count of the times ive been - and the times ive had to turn back! if anyone can make it there on a summer evening then do so - its amazing to watch the sun going down whilst surrounded by seals and to have thousands of birds flying overhead.

I've been past skerries, but never been in to them. Wouldn't mind hooking up some time for a guided landing. Will pm when next taking a run round.

Skerries lighthouse is a Trinity House owned 'house'. Here is the link to all the facts about it:

Skerries Lighthouse

Further, I have emailed the events organiser at Trinity House, asking a general question about mooring up there and camping.

I'll let you know the outcome.

I've had three people reply from Trinity House, and now have been put in touch with the PR manager - she is away until next week. To be continued...

I'd love to have a look around, but I am based on the Straits so don't venture up very often, unless in company.

Thanks for the offer though. Cheers. Will

It certainly does.

I'm based opposite Port Dinorwic and I'm next down between the 1 - 10 June, any good?
