I'll check the weather in the morning but looks like I'm heading up there in the morning and maybe a quick run out to the Casquets.

Could be an interesting trip up for me in the morning then. I've been forced against my will to bring this mad french woman with me as well

Might well need to borrow that tent of yours after all

Best advice would be to put her on a ringo and tow her up. On a long line so you can't hear the screaming of course. And if customs question you, just plead ignorance and say she wasn't there when you left Jersey.

Nice crossing up this evening. No fog and only a very low swell. Didn't drop below 35 kts and made it in just over the hour.

Wind seems to be picking up, may have to extend the tow rope even further

3 guys from Jersey, Dave, Ollie & Chris did a trip to The Minquiers at the weekend and came across a pod of Dolphins

Looking forward to the Alderney trip in July, hopefully Ollie & Chris can make it up from Jersey.

Thanks for the link Paul. Some great photos they took, I've hardly seen any dolphins myself this year yet.

If they do come up for the Alderney Floptilla cruise, I'm sure Martini or I would do our best to act as a support boat if they wanted it or carry spare gear.

I'm off to Sark in the morning for the Sark to Jersey rowing race, couple of pints and a spot of lunch at the Dixcart Inn then back to the boat to watch the race start. Then might nip across to Guernsey for a couple more in the ship & crown before heading home.

Sunday's plan is to shoot across to Carteret before the gate closes in the morning (9.50 bst) and chill out, maybe have a g&t on my mates hard boat wots got a lid on it

Everyone welcome to tag along for any part

Just got back from an excellent day out with Martini and crew, the rowing race was really well attended and Dixcart bay was a very effective oven with people hurling themselves into the water to cool off.

Thanks to Martini for a very good day and for the tour of the shallows and narrows!

Looks like you had a good time in Sark. We had considered an Alderney trip this weekend, but rather fancied lounging in the garden for a change for once. Have done the Sark race day a few times now, usually acting as a guard boat for one of the pairs, but I wasn't needed this year, so decided to give it a miss.

Make sure you keep those shiny new toobs well polished Mart!

Not exactly but similar to the set up you have over there I think. They have a shop on the Albert Quay near the lifeboat station. I could pop in and enquire for you?

Cheers, but only if your passing. I am just weighing up the pros and cons of St H versus Bon Nuit.

Bon Nuit

Hi Mart,

I think you will still be able to get duty free from the shop if you moor at Bon Nuit, just take your SSR book or similar to prove registration of vessel / visiting status.

There are some "local" boats that have retained names similar to "Sarah of Hamble" etc that they openly sell duty free to, this is probably because they think they are visiting.

If you go to Bouley instead of Bon Nuit, feel free to raft alongside my boat or the grey rib off the end of the Pier.

When you coming over, we need to have a chat about some heavy metal !!!

Regards
KarlT

Cheers for the inside track

I had been planning on a day trip on Thursday, got a couple of customers to see and then pick up Jack before returning in time for the Floptilla cruisers.

The blinking WX is all over the place though!

Revitalise this concept!

Hi, sorry to resurrect an old thread.

We are putting together a mailing list of people who would like to be kept up to date with Channel Islands powerboating activities, from on-shore meets to cruises and beyond. There might also be a Facebook group.

The idea is to link through to RIB.net and our own web pages so that everyone can join in when there is something going on. If you want to join the list then let me know by any of the usual ways.
