I meant Royal Solent Yacht club in Yarmouth not Weymouth.

Hotel now only has a few spare rooms so anyone else interested please let me know by Tuesday at the latest or they will be full up.

Cheers

Julian

Weymouth 2007

Morning All,

Right looks like everything is now set for the weekend, seems like the weather is on our side as well with only light winds and even a spot of sunshine. Happy days.

Ok so were meet in Yarmouth between 11am - 12am for lunch and a few beers. We will aim to leave at around 2pm for the run to Weymouth. For this event we will be using channel VHF CH 77. If you need to radio us on route our boat name is Scorpion, Other boat names are Ocean Devil, Hot Lemon, Happy Hours, Seahound 5 there are other which i will post later.

If anyone hasnt paid as yet could you bring along a cheque and pass to Roger Lyas in Yarmouth so he can settle up with the hotel etc.

Many Thanks

Julian Lyas

Lets sort out any problems and move on so we can do the most important thing and get out on the water and have some fun.

Julian, I'm sure that you're a great bloke and superb at organising such events. However, the whole BIBOA thing appears as stiff as a board to me. There appears to be liitle fun and humour in the whole thing. The related posts on this site are dull. If the cruises looked a good laugh, myself and probably a couple of other Cornish guys would tow up and join in. Dartmouth is not far from us. Or, a combined Scilles trip perhaps?

Hey Mollers.....

I can see how you might form this opinion , but I really believe that you are mistaken . When I first got seriously interested in RIBs about 5 years ago , I got a real warm welcome on the BIBOA East Coast Cruise ( even though I was a complete newbie ) , got lots of good advice about different types of RIBS , sensible advice about training etc , etc ( Thanks Alan & JCW ). One of the best cruises I've ever been on was a BIBOA week long cruise out of Oban . Brilliant company , larger vessels ALWAYS escorting smaller or enough small RIBS to buddy up . I've never met anyone with so many silly hats ( Dougie , our local Scots guide ). When I was the only small RIB intending to join a cruise ( Channel Islands trip this year ) , I was invited to join the crew of one of the bigger vessels ( Thanks Martin ) .

BIBOA is not the stuffy Scorpion Owners Club that some people suggest it might be . I'm sure they would welcome your assistance in organising a Scillies Cruise . I'd be up for that ! Just my 2d worth . Regards Bern.

That's great. You obviously have first hand knowledge of BIBOA and it's very positive. I'm just passing on my feelings as to how the organisation comes across on this forum. It's not personal.

I can see how the perception may come across but I can only agree with the words of Bern. My first cruise was the Oban trip and I have met some fantastic people through BIBOA, gained lots of advice and help, and generaly drunk too much with like minded people. I could not recommend it enough.

Here you go: www.biboa.com. If you go to the 'About Us' there's a membership form to download or PM me your address and I'll send you one.

It's not for nothing that we call ourselves 'The UK RIB Club for Cruising, Racing & Socialising'.

The lengths some people will go to to watch the rugby semi final, Feet up on sofa, beer in one hand, missus waiting hand and foot, cant fault you.

PS. CAN YOU MAKE IT LAST TILL NEXT SATURDAY.

A big thanks to every one who came along at the weekend. It was a great trip and the weather was perfect. Good to meet with a few new faces as well and hope to see you all again soon.

Going into detox now.

Cheers

Thanks for a great run this weekend and those who organised food, hotels etc, not surprised to read about the detox option.

As for the BIBOA way of life, for me, us, we would like to continue to cruise with both Ribnet and BIBOA in the future. All the folks we met this weekend would be great company for any cruise and a few jars after. We made all the appropiate digs to Mr Puddifoot (chairman) whilst cruising in relation to the camaraderie we`ve experienced on Ribnet cruises and feel this had been picked up. Wasn`t it John.

So perhaps its time to give them another go. Try and get some pics on later.

Roy sorry to hear of your dramas.

Thanks for the comments guys and glad you all enjoyed it.

Will post the photos in the next few days. I will also sort the weather out for our Alderney trip in a weeks time. Leave it to me.

Cheers
