BIBOA Weymouth 2008 Annual Bash 4th & 5th October

Afternoon Everyone,

Cant beleive its time to start sorting this out allready, but it is.

For the past 10 + years we have been invading Weymouth for the end of season cruise etc and this year is no different.

Plan -

Saturday 4th October - Meet in Yarmouth at the Wheatshief pub at 12 for lunch and beers. Depart 2pm for Weymouth. Saturday evening we have a meal booked in the Yacht Club. After the meal the town is ours to invade.

Sunday -5th October - Depart Weymouth at 11am and head to Yarmouth for Sunday lunch in the Royal Solent Yacht Club.

This is a busy weekend so please let me know if you can attend and what rooms you will need in the Crown hotel.

The cost of the weekend is £75.00 per person which includes Hotels and both meals. Just beer money needed on top etc.

Let me know if you can join us.

Cheers

Does that mean that BIBOA are going to spring for the go-go juice ? Now, that's what I call generous....

If there was an olympic event for the amount of hotel furniture that could be crammed into one bedroom, then you would surely be a medal contender

Weymouth 2008

Morning Folks,

It looks as if the weather is turning for the better for the weekend so lets hope it stays that way. My fingers are crossed.

We will be on VHF CH 77 for the trip and will be in Yarmouth on Saturday morning just after 11am. Meet in the Wheatshief pub for a beer and lunch.

Aim to depart at 2pm to head down to Weymouth.

Look forward to seeing you all on Saturday.

Cheers

Julian

Hi Guys,

Right final figures and plan for you all.

There are 43 people for the event and 15 Ribs taking part.

All we need is good weather now.

Final Plan :

Saturday 4th October - Meet in Yarmouth at the Wheatshief pub at around 12 for lunch and beers. Depart 2pm for Weymouth. Saturday evening we have a meal booked in the Yacht Club at 8pm. Aim to get to the club for 7ish for drinks in the bar. After the meal the town is ours to invade.

Sunday -5th October - Depart Weymouth at 11am and head to Yarmouth for Sunday lunch in the Royal Solent Yacht Club to be served around 1pm. Its roast turkey so hope you all like that.

Should be another great weekend.

See you in Yarmouth
Cheers

Weymouth 2008

Morning Folks,

Right the forcast is not good for tomorrow afternoon so the new plan is to leave early doors and go straight to Weymouth. We can have lunch there. The winds are picking up later in the day so the early start is the best option.

I am leaving London today at 1pm so if you need me I will be on my mobile.07590569448. Please dont take any risks tomorrow going by sea. Several people are driving down so use that as a option if your not comfortable going by sea.

See you tomorrow.

Cheers
Julian

Hi Guys
We've got a 6.5m Ballistic with a 150 Yamaha - if we go by sea are we going to be the smallest boat holding everyone-up?
Are many other boats still going by sea?
Is anyone else looking to start from Southampton or the Hamble?

We are a 6.5m Solent with a 150 Opti leaving from Lymington, and we will be going definately... I shouldn't worry about it See you at Yarmouth.

Julian is the meeting time at Yarmouth still valid? Are we meeting outside and going together or not?

Josh

Hi Josh
I don't think Julian has access to Ribnet at the moment - But his current plan is to check the sea state at about 9.00 from Lymington, and assuming it's not too bad leave Lymington at about 10.00 for Weymouth directly without going to Yarmouth.
We're aiming to leae the Hamble at about 08.00 - 08.30 and meet at Lymington for 10.00.
If it's a nightmare we'll head back and drive to Weymouth, but plan "A" is to go by sea!
See you tomorrow hopefully.

Hi, thats fine, I spoke to Julian about an hour ago, and seeing as we're both based at Haven Quay in Lymington we are going to meet up there at 9am and refuel at Yacht Haven before advancing to the Needles to have a look at the channel sea state, and then go for it if its not going to be too uncomfortable... See you at the race platform outside Lymington River at 10 then!
Josh

Weymouth weekend

Julian, thanks for organising a very good weekend. We had an "interesting" run down to Weymouth in Black Gold on our own on Saturday and a good run back on Sunday in company with the Ribcraft 5.85 Bumblebee. It was interesting in the big seas of St Albans Head to see the different techniques. I tried to take them beam on while Bumblebee turned through 90 degrees into the big breaking waves in order to take them bow on. I thought my method was working well until one wave broke over the side of the boat!
Dinner and lunch were good too. Gavin

Weymouth 2008

Morning Folks,

Gavin, thanks for the email, glad you enjoyed your 1st BIBOA trip and look forward to crusing with you soon.

To everyone else who went as well I hope you had a enjoyable weekend, Sorry I coulnt make it, both my crew had food poisining, I had to put one on a train home at 8.30am before we had even left Lymington, my other crew thought he would give it ago and as soon as we past Hurst Castle he had a few problems so we had to return home.

A real shame as its allways a good weekend, its the 1st time in over 10 years that ive not gone, also a pain as i spent ages organizing it. Never mind.

See you soon

Julian
