Billy No Mates looking for "club"
I launch mainly off Calshot, occasionally from Hythe and sometimes from Baiter in Poole harbour when I can persuade family (wife + 13yr old daughter) or find buddies who want to “come out to play” but more often then not when I can go they are to busy or “… well its not very nice out there is it” – any one with same problems? The boat is a 5.8 Ribeye with 115/4 Yamaha 2 x single jockey’s and a bench at the back. Was coded for charter before I got it. Is there an informal club / gathering where you meet up help each other launch / recover etc and go out for jollies etc?

Hi Mike,
We (Son and self) mainly launch from Calshot when we 'do' the Solent. Have also been out of Baiter. Mainly Saturdays when the weather is not too bumpy. Usually stop off in Cowes for a hot bacon baguette at Tiffanys.
With a 75 might not be able to keep up with your 115 but would be game for a laugh!
Drop me a line next time you're going out and I'll do likewise.

Is anybody out and about this weekend?
We're looking for something slightly different to do this weekend but can't think what.

For Andy Beach
Please could you tell me where Tiffanys is. I visit Cowes often but am a bit stuck for free landing places for a bite to eat.
Is Tiffanys such a place ?
Many thanks.

Nick, Tiffanys is a licensed cafe in Cowes - we stop at the Town Quay to get there so it's not free. I don't know of anywhere that is free to land except for the Beach Cafe to the west of Cowes.

Tiffanys is opposite the Anchor PH in the high street.
As for mooring charges in Cowes I normally stop on the pontoon between the red jet and the marina. If the Harbour Master isn't there when you arrive and he's not there when you leave he can't charge you.
I normally end up having to pay (about £3 for a short stay) about half of the times I visit.
Will probably be in Cowes Saturday afternoon / evening
