Bramble Cricket Match - 22nd August 2013

Only just found out that this years cricket match is tomorrow, low tide is at 18:23.
I went out last year and was slightly disappointed as it didn't drop low enough and with a strong breeze it caused waves to constantly crash over the bank.
Weather looks good so I plan on heading out there for around 18:00.
Is anyone else planning to come along to watch?
Attached are some pics I took last year, hoping to get a bit closer to the action this year though.

Remember to be bows onto strongest element, wind or tide, last year saw a couple of RIBs swamp over the stern whilst on the bank

I witnessed that last year, the RIB carrying the RSYC team got swamped when dropping off but managed to get away. Unfortunately one other RIB wasn't so lucky when he got stuck on the bank, the whole time he was waist deep with a few RNLI guys trying to refloat. I left early so didn't see what happened afterwards.

We'll be out tomorrow, but not sure that we'll be out that late in the day.

The plan is to do some MOB practice, so if you see a RIB going round in circles with a famliy aboard shouting "man overboard" every few mins you'll know it is us :-)

Will try and catch the cricket if possible.

like being on bucking bronco ride when tide come's in,not enough depth to put motor down, and wash coming from all sides.

Yet another year where the bank wasn't fully uncovered, but there's always next year
There was a lot of boats there this year compared to last, It was difficult preventing yourself from being blown onto the bank with all the other boats close by so I only managed to take one photo. There were many others taking photos though so I expect I can find them soon.
Didn't take the risk of anchoring as I saw how the others who chose to were getting a battering and they had higher tubes than I did so I just watched from a safe distance.

You will know everything is going according to plan when the Pimms bar is set up. This annual event between the Island Sailing Club, Cowes and The Royal Southern Yacht Club has been a long tradition and normally it is agreed before we start who is going to win.

On good years we can normally get about 20-40 minutes of cricket. Mind you trying to bowl on such an undulating pitch is near impossible.
