Bristol > Lundy > Padstow

Just got back from Rock after taking TimeBandit down via Lundy Island yesterday.

Left Bristol at 6.00am to get through the lock then had a nice run in calm sunny conditions until Minehead when it got a little more choppy then headed on for Ilfracombe and Lundy for Breakfast got there at 10.00am radioed ahead and had a plate of Bacon Sandwiches waiting !.

Final leg from Lundy to the mouth of the Camel was about 45 NM and after about 10 miles of heavy going as we headed towards the coast below Hartland Point it settled down to a large swell which we rolled along past Bude and Boscastle until we got to the Camel.

Really great trip covered 130miles and used 145 litres of fuel and only about 1.5 litres of oil so proved how economical the E-tec is even though we managed to average 28 knots according to the GPS.

Have really got the appetite now for some more long runs...

Sounds a great trip Chris - did you trailer the boat back then ?

I spent a 'slightly' slower weekend going down from Tewkesbury to Sharpness lock
& back. Havent taken the plunge yet through the lock but will be following someone
through and down to Bristol in the next few weeks, where my boat will then live for
rest of the summer. So I'll keep a look out on here for any rib cruises in the Bristol/Estuary area. Ivan
