I did not hang around because I was still a bit stunned that Fairweather wanted £8.30 for a prop nut. I had just bought a new prop, and you would have thought that they would have thrown it in. Fat chance.
Back on topic. If the forcasters have it wrong I will go out, if they are right, comming back over the Winner in a S-SW 6-7 against the ebb is a no-no.

A pub seems a very approriate place for Kevin to be discussing any form of strategy.

fair enough Tim good on you for standing up for your colleagues/friends
I wasn't having a go at Kevin in fact far from it. I have worked charters with Kevin more times than with any other person, and I trust him implicitly on the Sea. I also think he fits out the Solent Ribs very well.
As a person everytime I run into him or work with him it makes my day happier!
The last time I looked however I am pleased to say he was definitely a party animal.
I hope that puts my comments in a better perspective, if you are still unhappy the I'll withdraw the comments which were meant as an expression of friendship to Kevin.
To the best of my knowledge I have never had a go at Solent Ribs on this forum other than questioning the lineage, which isn't really knocking them is it!

lineage is traced back to Phantoms both are derived from this hull why don't me and you draw a line under this and leave it where it lies as we both know the history of these ribs .

The weather is looking a trifle inclement for Sunday,we will probably decide tommorow morning but as an alternative,we will probably walk along the beach from Keyhaven to Hurst castle,as Hurst narrows should be a good place to see it,the BBC forecasts a 25 mph southwesterly so it could be an impressive site, wind against tide.
The race (from the website) starts at 1400 so I would imagine that it would be imperative to be at Hurst by 1530 so as not to miss anything(please do correct me here if you disagree).
I guesstimate that it will take a good hour to walk out to Hurst-its amazing how it doesnt seem to get any closer walking along that beach for quite a while.
There is a ferry from Keyhaven but I dont know when and how often it runs.
If the weather is foul, and anyone else decides to do similar, look out for us,we will be the ones with the hyperactive yellow labrador.

A very quick calc. gives first boat to Hurst at 15:47. Please let me know how close I am. Its a long time since I did that sort of thing, and I don't know if I can still do it.
Be warned, if I am close, I will get very big headed.

Better buy a bigger hat,it was around 15.55 when the first boat arrived, they were all past within 20 minutes, there was a yellow cabin RIB,looked like a Scorpion having a terrific time wave jumping, plus quite a few smaller RIBs,glad I wasnt out there though in my boat.
Sorry about the picture quality, rain, too far away, camera playing up are among the excuses.

Nice pics, Paul. Sorry we didn't make it - Richard's nursing a stinking cold!
The yellow cabin RIB could well have been Mike Deacon's Scorpion 'Hot Lemon'.

Great event however totally mad on water. So many small & large boats trying to get in the best positions. Many people out there should not be allowed to own a boat. Lots of RIBs and lots of arseholes driving them, such a shame they give us all a bad reputation.
Anyway, great event, pics coming soon
