I'm going, three in my boat but if this is the forecast and it has been fairly spot on with its long range I won't be.

Check the wind speed out!

Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing thing, but I'm seeing F2 gusting to F4 from the NW? You'd be lucky to get it that good, TBH

BTW, yr.no do predictions for mid-channel, I find them good on the North Channel and beyond so should be worth a look. Their wave height feature is a cracker.

31kph is a Force 5 gust

I'm loving Weather forecast for Irish Sea (United Kingdom) though!

If the weather is too bad to go, we're going by Stena Line in any event.

Don't worry about gusts, it's steady sustained blow that's the problem + swell. You can get a huge swell in the oirish sea in flat calm conditions (been there, puked in it) It'll do what it does. I never take much notice of long term forecasts, especially when they aren't telling me what I want to hear

Due to lack of equipment, competent crew and economical tow vehicle should we be unable to return, I have succumbed to the dark forces of the Black Shadow.

Enough of that bollocks. I'm in with the Captain himself, TT! Joined forces to form an invincible crew to land on Ireland and over run Willk ( ) whatever the welcome committee! Sod paint ball guns, I'm bringing the 12 bore!

Bring on the Guiness and single malt! (On arrival I might add!)

Indeed! If it was as calm as that day I'd blast there and back. My biggest issue is getting stuck there. Don't have the time or finances to either sit it out or tow back.

Think positive the weather has got to improve and if we don't see a good window guess we won't be going.

Don't tell me some people need more than one prop! Tell me what exactly do they do to them that they need changed? Amazing that they can't look after they're props.

Updated Details so far

I have booked in to the Premier Inn Caernarfon on the Friday night so if anyone is around we can meet up for a chat/skippers meeting over a meal and drink. The plan so far is to meet at Ty Calch on Saturday morning around 9ish for a coffee and final check over allowing time for everyone to be launched, hopefully set off around 10ish or before weather / tide dependant

As a few of you already leave your ribs with Chis at Ty Calch hopefully there wont be many cars taking up a lot of parking. We can either leave them at Chris’s if he has room or we can take them in to Caernarfon where there is a free 24hr car park next to the Premier Inn, I’m sure one of us will ferry back those that choose to use that facility.

Please make sure all boats are sea worthy and that you carry all the recommended safety equipment remember this is not a race but a weekends cruise with like-minded people. Each and everyone is responsible for their own safety and passage planning, its up to each skippers decision to go or not. Check that your insuance covers you for this trip
We will use channel 8 and the lead boats will answer to………………

We should hopefully arrive at Dun Laoghaire around 1ish that’s estimating a 3-hour crossing travelling at around 20/25 knots. I think we should run in pairs with 2 lead boats and 2 sweeper boats. We need someone with A.I.S. etc to lead so Pikey Dave and Maximums have agreed to this with myself and another as sweeper boats. We all travel together with no one getting left behind. In the event of fog we will obviously slow down and group closer together, but lets hope its sunshine all the way.We will hopefully meet up with willk and the welcoming committee at some point to be arranged roughly around 5 miles out
Can you please confirm how many people there are on each rib so that we can inform the coast guard of our numbers ?

Saturday night if everyone agrees we can try to arrange a group meal bearing in mind the number of us 20 plus bodies can be a PITA standing outside trying to agree where to go, so we will need some feed back on this asp, but if you would sooner do your own thing that’s fine I,m sure the Guinness will be refreshing whatever or wherever you decide to go.

Sunday after a good breakfast and plenty of black coffee we will head to the Marina and for those that need to top their petrol tanks up etc nows the time “we wont mention any names will we Deano”
We will then hopefully make our way for a trip up the Liffey river for a sight seeing tour before saying farewell to Willk and others and setting back to Caernarfon around 1ish arriving back around 4 oclock. This trip might might yet be arranged for the Saturday depending on our time of arrival we will decide on the day some of you might need a little bit longer to recover from the Saturday night plus there is the drive home to consider once we arrive back at Ty Calch.

I have been in touch with Dun Laoghaire Marina and have been told we don’t need to pre-book. But i will need to get in touch with them a couple of days before our arrival to confirm the numbers so that they can arrange a space for us.They charge €3.60/m for the night so for my 6.4m Rib that works out about £18.00

Anyone wishing to join us are more than welcome

There are a few more that have expressed interest but as yet have not confirmed can you please let me know asap

My Mobile number is 07970 799613 should anyone need to contact me

In the event of bad weather and it’s a no go then plan B is, a few of us have planned to still meet up at Ty Calch on the Friday and hopefully get the ribs in on the Saturday down the Menai and surrounding area for a little fishing, wave jumping etc.
We will arrange to go at the next best weather permitting weekend, we have all the info in place so it will be just a matter of a few phone calls. So those that can make it with a couple of days notice this trip will still go ahead at some point.

Some usefull imformation.

Arrives in Dunlaoghaire at 12.00 and Departs at 13.15
Sailing and Check in Times | Dun Laoghaire to Holyhead | Stena Line

All looks good to me Tony, good work
40 foot bar is fine with us 2, either way allah cart or fixed.
My Dublin spy tells me that the Hotel is spot on, having recently been refurbished. So wipe yer feet
We'd be up for a second attempt if we get blown out, not that we will
