Couple of miles out of Cherbourg the dials come up with "no oil - low oil pressure" having run fine for three hours plus all morning..seems to run fine and there is definitely plenty of oil in the tank. So I turned off and on again, gives about 30 secs before back into limp home mode. Read the etec owners forum and decided the best thing to do was pump the oil line bulb which I did, forcing tons of oil into the engine (and proving the integrity of the system) but creating massive smoke clouds and dumping loads into the sea. Engine started to run roughly (probably due to excess oil) so Blue Ray towed it into Cherbourg where is now sits waiting for the engineer to have a look come Thursday (bank holiday tomorrow, bloke not in on monday, didn't have time today...)
It is better off there than here because there are two dealers within the port where as down here there are none so it is not a complete disaster, just don't want it sat in the water too long in a marina

We made it back OK though. Bit choppy on Monday coming back from Cherbourg, but the wind was straight behind us and with the tide so it was just big swell really.
Short video of the trip to follow shortly.

What time did you leave? We visited the harbour a few times but missed any activity.

Great cruises. Well done Guys. I have missed out on both trips due to lack of time but would still very much like to make it to Alderney between now and the middle of September. Just a thought in case somebody else has the same idea.

Good photographs Michel
I apologise for only meeting you briefly, having to miss out on even a bad meal is a shame!

Here's the low res version of the video - we're in France with a slow connection at the moment so will upload to YouTube the high res one in a couple of weeks!

No can do today. Working hard to get big boat back together ready for launch next week after engine repair. Keep an eye out for a 35' mobo at Les Ecrehoes with Captain Nobby at the helm!

Spending the night in Cherbourg and coming down tomorrow, boat seems to work fine...but could only take 80 litres on fuel pump (2x40) until pump wouldnt let us have any more so will have to try again in the morning or else may be a bit dodgy getting to Jersey on 120 litres!
AIS USB appears to have rusted so much that it is unusable.... and it's not showing up online!!! I think it is working though, we could see four ships within the harbour and only one is on marine traffic so not an isolated problem

You haven't shown on AIS since the south coast of Alderney last weekend. It's still not right, and could be down to the slightly loose centre pin on the BNC.
