Cherbourg Saturday

Im planning on crossing to Cherbourg on Saturday launching from Lymington if anyone fancies it let me know. I missed the BIBOA Rib raid a few weeks back but it sounded like a great day. Im hoping for the weather to be ok but if not i will just Cruise around the Island.

Spud,

You might find that Lymington is very busy on Saturday, and lots of RIBsters will be looking at yachts (stranger things have happened!)

See Mr 7's post: http://www.rib.net/forum/showthread....&threadid=2251

Saturday

Hi Richard,

I realise that there will be alot of traffic about on Saturday morning but i was hoping to be an early bird and beat the rush out. Thanks for the advice though, would you recommend somewhere else to launch from early on Saturday then as i dont really want to be hanging around all day trying to launch.

Regards Spud

No probs, spud. Have you looked at the notice to mariners that Pete's linked to in his thread... the yacht race is making an early start!

Lyington (yacht club) is an excellent slipway and I don't know of a better one in the area, so I'd stick with it. Beating the rush sounds like a good idea.

Spud, you could try Hythe Marina slip on Southampton Water. Free launching & parking and quite easy for you to get to from the west.

Check it out on boatlaunch.

Thanks Andre,

Me too, very jealous after seeing all your photos. Much better conditions than my last attempt at crossing with Mike C and others last year. Suffice to say we turned back about 25 miles out with Mike feeling a little under the weather!! Fingers crossed for this trip,

Spud
