Looks like it will be a bit windy for you! We will be out over the weekend so if you see us (blue and white Hunton) give us a wave!!
Good Luck and hope the Folly is up to its usual standard!

Slow boat to cowes
I may need to leave a bit earlier than 11:15 to get to the Medina for 12:15 as I only have a Honda egg whisk on the back of my boat. You will probably shoot pass me at the Hurst Castle as my top speed in around 25 knots.

We plan on launching in Poole by 10.30 so should be off Christchurch around 11.15. I'll be keeping somewhat further off shore than last time I was off Hengistbury in the rough!

We're probably going to be a bit earlier (to allow for the swell and general big waves ). Tell us what time you'd like us to be off Christchurch and we'll try and oblige. We'll be on CH72 and monitoring CH16 so call us up on "Grimalkin". If we're there we'll respond.....but if it's like previous RVs, it'll be a mess! PM your mobile as I have done to you.

Avocet,
What time are you thinking of leaving on Sunday?
I have been watching this thread for ages but didn't want to commit due to some family matters (now improving), concerns about the weather and my better half thinking I must be insane! Forecast on Windguru indicates WSW 12 knots with gusts up to 22. As ususal getting there should be no problem but getting back could be "entertaining". I will probably make my decision on the day before (so I can fuel up) and take pot luck (or a Crew Pot) at the Folly.
Cheers

Hi. It would be good to have another boat for company and it's good to see that the Met Office have also reduced their forecast wind speed for Sunday from 21 to 16mph.
We're aiming to be at the marina by 10.00 so probably launching about 10.15. That should give time to get to the Medina entrance for 12.15. If you decide to come, we'll doubtless see you at the marina.
David

Indeed - The weather does appear to be moving in the right direction hopefully leading to an expected good turn out of some 40 odd heads and maybe some 15-20 odd boats. I think next year I may well approach The Folly to arrange some concession on berthing on our behalf !!

Whisper +1 and Tumbleweed...
To get to the entrance of the Medina for 12.15, I'm intending to LEAVE Southampton Dry Stack at 11.30 latest. This gives us 20 mins down the Itchen at 6kts then 25 mins to get across to Cowes.
We went to Yarmouth then on to the Needles today - the sea was pretty flat until we went through Hurst, so I'm expecting tomorrow's run just to Cowes to be uneventful (famous last words?).
It may be a different story for those coming from Poole and Christchurch - the trip to lunch should be OK, but heading back across Poole bay into the wind and tide, just as the light starts to fade may be a bit more exciting...
