So the MET office is saying 35knts of wind , XC weather 22knts . Anyone care to tell me which it will be ?

If its 35knts I'll start dosing up on Dutch courage now & put even more faith in Avocets boat & helming ability !

Great - you won't be the only one requiring Dutch courage Blackroady - if the winds are that bad we won't be taking our RIB - I wouldn't be in a fit state for anything to eat on arrival!!

Have arranged to meet with Hightower to follow him across - so will hang on making a final decision until Friday evening - but now seriously pooping myself

Matt - you are barking - lol

Is this a typical case of not reading the weather until you see it for yourself otherwise you induce panic amongst the crew and helm for that matter

About right!..Trouble is the forecasts, are just that.Hopefully wont be too bad by Saturday, especially as we've arranged to meet 'Avo and Crew' at Poole for the jump off! Time will tell.
Suffice to say 'Matt h' has got that far away look in his eye,and the slight slurr to his voice...which means only one thing...it'll take another 'Catrina' {at least !}to keep him on Terra fir-ma!.. Wouldn't mind, but promised Miche I'd look after him!
Don't Panic yet K, save your energy for Saturday

35knts ain't bad, they never seem to get the weather right, i'm back and forth to the island a lot and sometimes i listen to the weather forecast and go by ferry, always wish i'd taken the rib, i have always found it never as bad as they forecast, got to read the meters in the house anyway so i'll be going whatever the weather

If it looks like wet and windy I'm staying at home, had enough of this wet boating lark in the last few weeks. Will decide on Friday.

Hi All
I've been off the PC for a while and manged to miss this one!
Is there still room extras?

We've not been over to the Folly since ..... at least last Saturday!
As long as I can bunk off the school Xmas fete I'd love to put a few more faces to the regular names on Ribnet!
Trevor

As a contingency for bad weather and some of us deciding not to go - is there any merit in meeting up at a pub for lunch in the Southampton/Portsmouth area over looking the Solent - I've now got the day free and it would be nice to do something if the RIB experience is not possible.

Its just a thought what do you think?

Good luck re the school Christmas fete Trevor

XC weather looking better now for the Solent - fingers crossed - showing 14 - 15 mph winds, cloudy with a small amount of sun but little rain, 11c

You would'nt own a RIB if you were'nt an Optimist BR!
Got the distinct feeling you may have another crew member{of the'Fairer Sex'} ship! From Matt's 5m....to Chris's 6.5...just wait till she see's the size of Avo's!!

Hee, hee: I've got a big one! Titter, titter

Seriously though: I'm looking forward to it. Am planning on being in the water by 10.00 am with Blackroady as crew (unfortunately Mrs A can't make it) and hope to meet up with Maximus and Matt H to cruise over together from Poole. If they can launch at Baiter, it's only 200m from Parkstone Bay where my boat is kept. Am more than happy to have extra crew (especially of the fairer sex) if wanted. (Blackroady can entertain them 'cos he's got a big one too - even if he doesn't like to use it in the winter!).
