Just some info for those coming a good distance. The nearest petrol stations are at Lochgilphead and Oban. 16 and 23 miles away, so bring plenty with you. Unless, of course, you follow the lifeboat's example and go under the 'Bridge over the Atlantic', in which case you may be able to fill up at the Tigh and Truish - with petrol too.

Things are looking good for me too, nearly finished the minor refit and recommission.
Hopefully get the last bits of greasing and servicing finished tomorrow and test round Oban Bay Wednesday evening.

Weather's looking good for the weekend. Just serviced my engine and got it running. Need to antifoul, get some new fuel and launch. If nothing untoward happens and the forecast's right, I'll be at the Gulf on Saturday.
Have we got a rendezvous point and time? (Understand that NO-ONE is organising anything and if someone suggests a time and place they are NOT responsible for causing a big crash)

Have been watching this thread, but sad to say I'm not gonna make this one due to my coming home from Wester Ross this weekend. Which is a shame cos I kinda promised myself exactly this trip this year up through Crinan. Maybe another time. You guys have a great time and post plenty of piccies when you get back

K'ado plans
HI guys
K'ado will be leaving Cushendall @ 10.30
Highi water @ Corryvreckan is approx 11.00. so whirlpool should put on best display from 1.00 to 3.00.
We may stop for soup in Port Askeig but will post later today when plans firmed up.
Photos of K'ado will be posted next week. Last weekend was for learning about the boat.

Hi folks
Have had a chat with Peter on Kado
My fault high water should read Sat. 15.42 Sun 16.18
Bluewater Raven & Kado will leave Cushendall Saturday morning and
call in to Port Askaig on Islay for a pie & a pint. We are planning to
be at Corry at High Water (15.42) and wait for the ebb to build.
Should be buzzing around 18-00 hrs. We are then going on to Craobh
Haven for the night and will take Sunday as it comes.
Look for a big blue & white rib with a cabin on top
Hope lots of you can make it, the weather looks good , mine's a Guinness!
Regards Mike Thornton

If all goes well, I'll try to be at the Gulf around 1530 ish. Might try anchoring in Gleann a Mhaoil Bay on Scarba if no one about and weather allows, or perhaps just float about and have a cup of tea.
Back to Ardfern afterwards, I guess - not keen on paying to park in Craobh.
PS. Just called Craobh. There's a short stay tarriff for a 4 hr. stay - £8.00 . Cheaper to come home and walk to the Galley instead. Is anyone staying in Ardfern?

I am probably coming down from Cuan Sound on Saturday, look out for a small yellow Humber...
Assuming the blast round Oban Bay tomorrow night sea testing is fine and weather looks good of course.
Are there any other little (<5.5m) boats going or will I just be feeling inferior all on my own? :-)

I shall be launching this evening and if all goes well will be at the Gulf by 1530. Might be earlier and anchor off Scarba for lunch, depends on whether I feel I've enough fuel or have to go to Lochgilphead to get some more.
Navy blue and white Destroyer, with Moon Raker in white letters. As a group of two, we can be superior about feeling inferior.

rib clubs scotland
Hi guys, I am a member of the RIB Club in Milan Italy ( Club Del Gommone, www.clubdelgomone.it), we organise various trips in and around Italy, if anyones interested just feel free to visit our site. If you need any help translating I can help. I have just suggested that a future trip could be to Scotland to see this famous whirlpool.
Cheers to all
