A cruise to the D Day Beaches - what more could she ask for
Pity you can't make it.
Besides hotel / B&B accommodation We will also be checking campsites close to the marinas, as a last resort, incase the hotels are full. Hopefully as it's seven months away accommodation can still be found. Will start looking next week and update with the possibilities.
I will also check the possibility of booking marina spaces especially at Carentan. This could be very busy on the 6th June.

As expected accommodation is already getting booked in the chosen ports, although there are still some places available on a No Cancellation Fee basis and pay laters. Carentan looks the most difficult to find accommodation although there is one hotel with some rooms left close to the harbour.
Will post a list tomorrow.

That would be great.
I see from another forum that a number of RIBs might be meeting us in Honfleur. If weather works out and accommodation can be found this should be an excellent cruise.

Available accommodation is looking quite scarce.
Myself and Ian M have booked this hotel in Honfleur
Bed and Breakfast Chambres d'Hôtes A L'ecole Buissonniere , Honfleur, France - 269 Guest reviews . Book your hotel now! - Booking.com
There are a few rooms left and a choice of some other hotels in town and cheaper 1.5km away.
However this where it now gets difficult. I can't find any available accommodation in Ouistreham or Caen or anything in between but there are a number of camp sites.
Carentan is also proving quite difficult to find anywhere and The hotel in Cherbourg we all stayed at in October is full with two large groups having booked all the rooms !
I will check marinas next week to see if we can actually find a berth as it would appear this sort of trip should have been planned 12 months in advance !
If your looking for a retirement business you might want to consider a B & B on the Normandy coast

There's a campsite adjacent to the harbour at Grandcamp-Maisy. There's also a decent marina at Grandcamp. I've never stayed at the campsite but it's handy for the port & town & is in the heart of "D-Day" country.

Yes always a problem working out what to do, I would have liked doing the D Day cruise, the way it's going with the race boat it might still happen, I gave my word to the race so I'll stand by that.

Looking more and more likely we will have to look for camp sites or crash on Biff's cabin RIB - how many berths you got Biff
Starting to look at later dates to see if that is an option
Biff when is your race ?
