Bugger that won't be good, a word from someone who has been there, range and reliability is the only way, most common failures, electrics, fuel and if it new engines you will need to put some hours on them

I hope to come over that weekend, but I would head straight from Poole to Cherbourg on the Sat, then return on Sunday. Weather window would need to be pretty good though as it would be my first time crossing the Channel.

Friday 11th July 2014 - Stay in Ouistreham
Saturday 12th July 2014 - stay in Cherbourg
Sunday 13th July 2014 - leisurely return to the Solent
Hopefully as this is now planned for July we stand a reasonable chance of some settled weather with the option of cancelling nearer the time if the weather changes and not loosing any money

The dates got moved in Post 53.
If others are going I'm still up for this as a last shake down before the Round Britain cruise.

I have had a discussion with Nigel, and in his words he is 95% certain that he will NOT be able to make this cruise, due to work commitments. I toyed with the idea of taking the lead myself, but have realised that I will be out of the country the week before the cruise. This will make it difficult if not impossible to sort those little details that will inevitably come up, and so I am not going to put myself forward this time. If someone else is willing to take the lead they will get my support and any help I can give prior to my leaving the country. I am still keen to go on the cruise, and have still got a room booked in each of the hotels shown in post 53. When I looked a couple of days ago there were 2 rooms available in L'Ecailler, Ouistreham, and 5 rooms available in the Hotel Chantereyne, Cherbourg. Obviously there are other hotels available in each of the destinations, but if folks are interested it will be in your interests to get booking rooms now. I hope that there is sufficient interest and someone to take over the lead, as the trip to Cherbourg last year was highly enjoyable. Anyone……………
Can I suggest that in light of the above we have a ‘show of hands’ via this thread to gauge interest, and so decide whether we should go ahead.

I still have an interest in going Ian, however I'm afraid that after a meeting today work it is looking very likely that as discussed with you last week, work commitments will probably get in the way. I would still like to keep my hotel rooms until either there is no chance of me going or the trip being called off. I'll keep a watching brief for a week or two and then decide.

Just to confirm, with little interest shown for the stated dates, and with Nigel unable to take the lead, I believe this cruise will NOT now take place.

It's a shame, but we have now committed to going to the Scillies instead, on our homebound trip.

We are still keen to go up to Ouistream and Dunkerque at some point so it would be good if we can throw something together at the last minute in August or whatever.
