Dancing Ledge, Swanage - Weekend 16/17 June 2007

Just in case you are thinking where to go during that weekend then there will be a rare opportunity to see puffins on Dancing Ledge. I understand that the puffins come each year, have their little ones and head back to sea

Could be. Weather has got to get better soon! Are you planning to go there and back on the same day. If so, might join you. we need to get back to Chichester on the Saturday evening

Great idea Count me in.

Went down to Dancing Ledge a week or three ago but it was too early for them then. I've heard its one of the few occasions to see them on land.

I'm not an expert on Puffins. But do these birds just pop over for a weekend, drop their sprogs and then leg it ! I though birds had to sit on eggs to hatch them.

I ask this as I would like to see them also but don't have those particular two days off. I would have thought one of the parents had to hang around and hatch the eggs.

Any Puffin experts out their ?

Just looked on the BBC 5 day forcast.

Saturday shows dry at Chichester and Poole.

Wind speeds are up though. 18mph at Chichester and 15mph at Poole.

Hmmm Not so nice as it was forecast a few days ago.

Anyone intending going can PM me and I'll let you have my mobile number so I can let you know actual conditions before you set out.
