Dartmouth Aug 2010
As usual a few of us are off to Dartmouth in August for our week or so of Ribbing and Camping.
We are travelling down on Saturday the 14th Aug and returning home on Wednesday the 25th Aug.
We’re staying at Little Cotton Caravan Park which I can’t recommend enough.
Most days we put the boats in at Dartmouth and run round to Beesands beach or similar in Start bay for a day of mucking about in boats.
It would be really nice to see anyone who’s passing, and this year I’m determined to try and meet up with Paul T, Ed, Cookee etc for a beer or two.
If anyone thinks they will be around then PM me for my mobile number beforehand, or you could always try shouting on the VHF from anywhere in Start Bay during that time.
Nasher.

We launched and left our trailers etc here, great place, but the access road is narrow for the last 2 miles

If your looking for somewhere to store your trailer and launch I can highly recomend.
I have kept my Rib there since last June and can't fault them.
Blackness are also about to install a new floating pontoon which makes it even more accessable.
Enough of the PR bit.....Look forward to seeing you all in Dartmouth.
Cheers

Be great to meet up a some point whilst we are all there
We launch at the public slipway beside the upper ferry, then Mrs Nasher drives the car and trailer back up the hill to the campsite which is next door to the park and ride.
She comes back down on the bus and is normally gone no more than 10 -15 mins.
At the end of the day we drop her off and do the reverse, it all works very well.
Another bonus of the campsite we use is use of the park and ride as many times as you want during the day for £1.
As most people know, parking in Dartmouth just doesn’t happen for cars, let alone with a trailer on the back, so it’s the best solution we’ve found.
Nasher.

For the first time ever we gave up and came home last night, a couple of days early.
The first few days were great, beautiful sunshine and completely flat seas in Start Bay were accompanied by excellent underwater visibility, but it started to rain last Thursday and never really stopped, it just eased off a little between the heavy stuff. The wind also got up and the tent was moving around all over the place. We spend some time mucking about in the surf, but it just wasn’t camping weather.
Big apologies to Paul Tilley for not getting in touch, although we did pop over and see Cookee’s new boat being built when we realised his workshop is only 6.5 miles from our campsite.
Next year has already been booked however for a little earlier in the season, so we’ll try again then. I’m hoping to get out a bit in the Solent over the coming weeks so will post my plans when I know them.

Good to see you - we were having a bit of a crisis that morning as our suppliers had shipped the wrong matt and I was trying to source the correct stuff - they had supplied Bi Axial rather than the woven roving combi matt that we had always had from them - they didn't even tell us they were changing!
Hope you get better weather next year - it was great yesterday!
