Dartmouth - Bank Holiday weekend

We are off to Dartmouth for the Bank Holiday weekend. Hopefully the weather will be good. We have booked accomodation in a local B & B for 2 nights and plan to cruise around the area.

Any tips from local ribnetters will be most welcomed

Either,
not as far as I am aware,
or,
as I havent worked for 20 years I have completely forgotten when Bank Holidays are.
You can take your pick, but thank you very much for telling me it is 23-25 August.

..........and life here is fine. Especially now it is basking shark time around the island.

Lots to do in Dartmouth over Bank holiday & start of regatta.

Where are you thinking of launching / recovery - parking is a nightmare in this week?

I would suggest cuising upriver, but if you're 9m this may be tricky!

Brixham, Paignton & Torquay are a short step away as are Teignmouth & Shaldon if the tide is right. There are some good local coves & beaches - pm me for some details I don't want everyone knowing my favourites!

I'll be around all bank holiday & regatta week so if you see a 4m eyeing you up with envy you'll know who it is!

The Dart is a great river you'll enjoy it

Well we made it to Dartmouth. The weather was not too bad on the way there and even managed from a distance to run with the race. We stopped for lunch at Ludluw Cove and passing Portland Bill got a glimpse of some of the boats heading back to Cowes including Hot Lemon II

John, sorry time did not allow us to venture your way perhaps the next time

Many thanks to Ribraff for helping to get our ladies ashore. Sorry we did not have the chance for a longer chat. It was also a suprise to see Christopher . I hope you also had a good weekend boating.

Lovely place Darmouth and would recommend it to anyone. For us it was just about 100Nm each way and only the return journey was rough and from Anvil Point to Hurst via the Needles was very rough but we survived.

During the first night there was a strong wind and a yacht which was moored up just behind us took off our GPS antenna so the return journey was charts and compass heading. Anyway quite an experience as one now gets used to the GPS

I will post some photos later
