Whilst there are no facilities at Highland Arts other than some grass for putting your tent on there are public toilets at the top of the Ellenabeich jetty. (200m away) There is limited hot water inside and an outside water tap. There are no showers.

Carolyn is shortly to return to Easdale so she will get the paperwork under control and update. RSPB at Oronsay have been contacted. They are fine with us all visiting and may join us in their RIB. They will set out some sensitive areas which they will ask us to avoid/minimise disturbance. More on this later.

Water = rain. Leccy = the batteries in your torch!

Loo is a stroll to the pier. (as in the public toilets at the pier, as opposed to "over the edge of the wall"! My advice - go before you leave the pub!

And whatever you do - take an airbed rather than a karrimat!

Ooooh yeah!

I've camped on it. It's tough stuff. Frankly, I've camped on Highlands and Islands, Plateaus and Bateaux and that "carpark" was the worst - it's like pure rock (I suspect there's tarmac under there). If you're tenting it, bring BFO mungo tent pegs and a lump hammer. And like 9D280 says - an airbed...

My "serious" tent pegs are an order of magnitude of "seriousness" above rebar. Think 300mmx10mm square bar with an eye and a very sharp end.

Easdale smirked at them...

I used to have a few hard steel pegs made from spindles out of an old wool mill similar to yours and someone stole em by borrowing

Garragh Mhór is absolutely excellent. Someone should nail this while it's flying.

Joking aside for a moment, if at first your "standard" peg doesn't go in, try about 3/4" to the left or right. My suspicion is that under the green stuff is the Easdale equivalent of type 1 compacted to "below runway tarmac" standard. There are peg sized holes in it, and so far I've never failed to get a standard peg in using nothing more than my foot - granted in some cases after 4 or 5 tries.....

Having said that, it's still airbed territory!

Update !! 30 registrations so far.

I have emailed everyone who hasn't yet registered but have attended previous years so hopefully that will remind some more people ..... I'm loathe to list the people already registered in case some people don't want their activities published !!!!!
