Roll on, the 2016 one will be the first my wife and I have been able to attend due to work. Giving up work in 7 weeks Hopefully four other friends will join us as well, so that's 3x sub 5m ribs with 60/70hp. Praying for fine weather. Advice on where a group of 6 could get accommodation would be appreciated.

I'd be quick if your looking for accommodation.

Properties will disappear quicker than snow off a dyke.

Easdale a great wee place to go to

Wanted to but never made it for the rendezvous run outs and the craic, as much as I would have liked to, but here is a wee pic from the other week the weather was rubbish but the run up from Loch Sween through corryvreckan and back was enjoyable as was the pint in the pub.

Website now updated

The ERR website has been updated to reflect the arrangements for 2016. The objective remains Oronsay just south of Colonsay as weather prevented us achieving this objective last year.

Please spread the word amongst the RIB community. All are welcome.
Carolyn who co ordinates is currently in Spain and then heads off to Cambodia returning Easdale mid February. Until this time responses may be a bit slow but don't worry she will be back on the case.

I will use this forum to communicate in general terms

Good boating for 2016

Tony

I am going to try and attend. Anyone taken/taking the trip up the Crinal Canal, can't decide if I would trailer from Bute or just take the boat through the canal.

Thoughts?

Although the canal is only 8 miles long, there are a lot of locks - and usually you need to wait for a few boats to arrive in each lock before the keeper will open it. That can be fun if you are in no rush - but I think Canals Scotland say it should take at least 5 hrs (because there are also speed limits) to do the transit. With getting there from Bute and to Easdale from Crinan, and back, I think you'd need to add 2 days on for the return journey.

As I read it - it makes sense for WAFIs and Puffers. Not so much for a boat on a trailer or capable of making way against the tide. Having a vehicle at ERR can be handy as well - the Polymobile certainly saved my bacon last time out.

I was toying with sailing from the Clyde, possibly round the mull or canal to ERR.

A car while there though is handy to go get fuel or just normal bits and bobs..... Decisions

Easdale video

You may have seen the recent article about Easdale in the Observer. In case you didn't here is the associated video. Enjoy

As to heading to Easdale from the Clyde. It certainly can be done by sea but is obviously a fair distance particularly if the weather is indifferent. I would consider travelling via the Colintraive ferry unless there is a good forecast and you don't have to be back in work on Monday morning.

Is it just/mainly Ribs? I think if I take my cruiser I will go via the Crinan or if I just take the rib, then it is probably easier to just pull it out the water and trailer it.

I may be in Spain at moment but looking forward to getting back to Easdale soon !

Just to update you all, the registrations are coming in now which is good to see - here is the link to the website and the registration form -

Register - Easdale RIB Rendezvous

Also good to see some new names on the registrations - everyone is welcome, old and new so don't be shy and get in touch with us if you have any queries - we're a welcoming bunch !

Best way to contact us with queries is to use info@easdaleribrendezvous.org.uk

As Tony mentioned, I'm away from Easdale until mid-February so apologies if you don't get a prompt response but rest assured I will respond .... in between catching the rays here in Spain and yomping around Cambodia !

Also, thought I'd attach this short video from last year's event to get you in the mood !

See you soon !
Carolyn.
