Easdale RIB Rendezvous 2017 - 29/30 April

We look forwards to welcoming friends old and new to Easdale for the annual Easdale RIB Rendezvous. The event will take a similar format to previous years. Indeed, as we have failed to reach Oronsay for the past two years we surely cannot be beaten by the weather for a third year.
ERR is possibly the largest consistent gathering of cruising RIBs in Scotland. We estimate our numbers to be in excess of 40 RIBs varying in size from 4m to 11m. This is a cruise in company event with a suggested course and destination only. Individual RIBs are responsible for their own safety. The advantage of cruising in company is obvious. Should you be relatively inexperienced in using you RIB for cruising then this type of event is a great start point. Some who attend have extensive cruise experience and are more than happy to share their experiences.
Seafari Adventures (Oban) www.seafari.co.uk/oban provide information and guidelines and will send one of their commercial RIBs as a safety boat. RIBs are welcome to convoy with this boat or to do their own thing.

Many RIBs just come for the weekend. A number of RIB owners come to Easdale for the week prior to ERR, others stay for the week following ERR. Easdale is happy to accommodate RIBs in the harbour at any time. Charges are £10 per night. There is a weekly charge which offers a discount. Seafari are happy to offer cruising advice during your stay.

The Easdale RIB Rendezvous website www.easdaleRIBrendezvous.org.uk has not as yet been updated. Eug of Island Shuttle who looks after the site has not made it from Mull to Easdale yet, a minor problem with the weather. I am sure she will be here shortly and get on the case. Arrangements are basically as for 2016 except the dates and the tide times are different. This year it will be Spring Tides rather than Neaps.

Easdale RIB Rendezvous and Registrations/Information comes from Carolyn and the Seafari Ticket Office. Whilst Carolyn may be relaxing in sunny Spain for the winter I am sure she will be on the case when she can get an internet connection.

Do pencil the dates in your diary.
Should you be struggling for accommodation see Eilean Eisdeal - the Easdale Island Community Development Group and the relevant section. If you still have a problem contact Carolyn nearer the time. She will keep in contact with various providers and rooms spare.

Further details as they become available.
Please help us spread the word far and wide within the RIB Community

Good Tony looking forward to it as usual. I hear the oyster is going to be under new management. I'm sure we will get there this year.

Oyster Bar at Easdale

Jambo, you are well informed.
Whilst not finalised it s highly likely the Oyster Bar will be under new management by the end of January.
For those who attended ERR in the early years you may recall Seafari had a crew called Lyden. Whilst he hailed from the Birmingham area Lyden fell in love with both Easdale and local lassie Dawn. In effect Lyden never looked back.
Lyden and wife Dawn are the prospective owners.

Local gossip is they have a chef joining the team

Hence my comments there are a few details still to be finalised

I have never had an issue finding last day accommodation when I've went or was going to.

I gave up pre booking as lost enough wedge and not going due to forecast, I live close enough though to do that but just putting it out there......might not last though!

Local accommodation

perhaps start using google
airbnb easdale brings up a good selection of properties. A number are on Easdale Island.

Don't forget Sunnybrae Caravan Park. Whilst on Luing it is just 5 minutes by boat. Mike has a pontoon facility
There is a kayakers 'hostel' at Cuan. Again just 5 mins by boat. Tie up alongside the inner harbour.
Concrete ramp for launching at Sunnybrae/Cuan.

Properties are reluctant to allocate all of their accommodation stock to Online Travel Agencies that charge 15% commission! It pays to phone and ask for a better deal than available on Bookingdotcom - you'll often get something nice FOC - like a breakfast or newspaper.
