Easdale has been a windy place these last few weeks - you may have seen some of the storms in Glasgow etc on the TV. Easdale Harbour has been fine thankfully, we have a boat on the water!
Some responses to questions raised
Fuel and length of trips. If you opt on a sunny day to go around Mull its about 100 miles. Say 50 miles max on day 2 although many stay closer to home. Its a bit of a balancing act.
Lagnakeil Chalets - Phone/email Colin Mossman (owner)who came in his RIB last year, launch at Ardorran Marine - concrete slip
Dougcrock - happy to meet up/join in. If you are passing Easdale during your stay call into the harbour. Island side best VHF Ch 77 Seafari or ask ferryman. Need info just e mail.

I'm putting it in my diary!

Tony,
As a fairly inexperienced RIB skipper, but a sailor who knows the waters around Mull quite well, I'm hoping to borrow my older son's new RibCraft 5M. with 90hp Yamaha 2 stroke. Boat has still to have engine and steering fitted, but expect to be on water in mid-April at Melfort so will try to visit if weather OK. Will try to get younger son along as crew.
You looked after them both in their schooldays, so I trust you to organise a safe and exciting trip round Mull - or wherever the weather dictates!
But I will be in touch.
Best regards,
Bill

I have confirmed I'm free that weekend, so will see you there.

As a high level thought to save clogging the wee roads round Easdale with trailers, anyone fancy launching at Dunstaffnage or Linnhe Marine & motoring down on the Friday afternoon / evening?

I doubt I could do Sunday as well, so a wee cruise in company after the BBQ is also a possibility.

I now have a deadline to fit my new toy!

If memory serves, the passage was planned at 77Nm. We ran up to the mull and ducked behind Gigha. It was fairly choppy with a beam on sea for a good bit, which slowed us down. A good afternoon's cruise!

Sounds like a good run. About 4 hours in reasonable weather?
Chart looks a bit swirley from Jura up.
Not been that far north - yet.
In fact not been anywhere last 8 weeks apart from looking at orrible weather forcasts.

If your looking for experienced crew why don't you give Willk a call he is Ribless, and he know Redbay's like the back of his hand!!Better still he knows the cruising ground.

That's a very kind (and possibly rash ) offer

In answer to your earlier question, yes, about four hours in average conditions. I'm sure wind against tide could make some of it interesting, but the last leg can be done via the inside channel and it's very sheltered.
