How secure is the Puffin divers place for leaving the vehicle+trailer for the weekend or the boat on the trailer if I arrive the day before and stay in Oban?

Cheers

Response to Questions

Richard
Puffin Divers - whilst I offer no guarantees I know a number of people do leave their RIBs there on trailers all year round. An alternative would be to come through to Easdale and put the RIB in the harbour. If you want a concrete slipway then use Cuan, Two of the ferry People (Alasdair and Kirsten) are coming to the event and are happy to help you sort the launching there. Its just 5 mins up to Easdale.

Billy
There should be an update on some domestic arrangements coming via e mail shortly. (it may already be there) We will be piutting out a list by e mail about 10 days before the event with the names of people who are coming up, I will be asking when people are expecting to arrive, if they need to launch etc to try and ease things this end. I am happy to circulate this info.

cheers Tony. I am sitting down here at Tayvallich at the moment awaiting the impending winds. Sorry if I preempted your thoughts. Look forward to receiving your email.

Looks like I'm in.

Think I might use Craobh as my base (the road at Cuan looks tight and with the pickup I have the turning circle of an artic).

OK to get from Craobh to Easdale in most sea conditions?

Croabh to Easdale is fine

Richard
Croabh to Easdale is about 15 mins and well sheltered. For info we do tow boats up to 10m down the road to Cuan behind a Defender. Its a bit slow, you need a trailer with large wheels to get across the Bridge over the Atlantic and the turning space at Cuan can be a bit of a black art if there are cars sprayed around. Coaches use the road daily bringing visitors to Highland Arts.
Croabh is an easy slip with ample turning/parking.

Could I ask you to register at www.easdaleRIBrendezvous.org.uk
Just keeps the paperwork in order for the girls in the ticket office

Thanks

Tony

Tony,

Registered before the "i'm in" post! (please check)

Got a PM about Puffin so that looks like an option as well - perhaps more exposed if the weather gets up?

Don't want the stress of wondering whether I'll have some idiot blocking up the slip at the end of the day (& before a long drive home) so I'll probably play safe.

Drove the road to across Mull to Iona last year - would not like do that type of road again with the boat on the back on a bank holiday.

Cheers

Just a thought..... with so many RIBs all together it would be a great opportunity to exchange photo's of each others RIBs. We all have pictures of our own wakes but it is difficult to get pictures of your own boat in action. It might be fun to set up something on the website where everyone could upload their photos of other peoples boats taken over the weekend to allow the owners of the boats to download them. Don't know how easy this would be but it would be good if it were possible.

Yep, Nikon will be out and clicking away, I'll be doing "scenic" stuff of the harbour/launching escapades and "action" shots on the cruise. Let me know if there's any special requests.....as long as they're not too risqué!

Tony,

How interesting will the Corryvreckan be that weekend?

I think its a * according to:

http://www.whirlpool-scotland.co.uk/when.html

does this mean "not quite as good as a ***" or "don't even bother"

Richard
