There is a lot of potentially libellous commentary about Farfetched. She did not leap out of the water like your Tornado - she is a much more decorous, refined little lady. There is some evidence of something behaving badly in the far distance in Richard's video, but I think it is a whale playing - certainly not Farfetched I need photographic evidence before I can accept she behaved badly.
I did a double take, I looked round and saw your boat coming down over a wave and then as I turned back I could see the whole of the bottom of your boat about 30meters behind me - I put some gas on and moved ;P
I really wish I had my camera out - but no one in my boat had a free hand
Just saw this post , cruising at night is fun but not for the faint hearted or those that are rusty on their lights and shapes,maybe you should consider the Advanced Course . I would be happy to organize a evenings night nav expo for you and any others (NO CHARGE) we could start from the Island that way your route is already run and return at night to your home port, all you would have to do is return me to the ferry if you want me to ride shotgun on your boat.

Nice idea Tim. Be good to revisit the Advanced training! We've done a certain amount of night passages but there's nothing like lots of practice.
Especially as the bloomin lights never look like they do in the nice pictures. (Need to study those books while jumping up and down in the rain really to get anywhere close to reality.)
To be honest we usually go out in daylight in the long summer evenings and are often home by sunset.

Yeah, I remember the 30m incident, but it was a bit further away than that. We were sort of following you. I was powering hard whenever there was a calmer bit. You were appearing and disappearing in the waves in front. I must have powered when you took a break, because suddenly after coming off a wave, when the nose came down, you were a lot closer than I had expected.
A warning to keep distance apart in such seas when the first boat may not be powering and the following may be at a given moment!
I think we can all be a bit guilty of following too close at some stage or other, I always try to keep to one side or other and not directly behind. That nice flattened water directly astern of another boat does look inviting though!
I want to do some after work evening trips this year and would have been out this week to test my steering if the wind hadn't blown up. Nothing more enjoyable than a bit of Sundown Mackrel fishing followed by a cruise into a sunset.

Havn't had too much time for fishing this year but what you want is to have a telescopic rod and some lures and feathers aboard for those spur-of-the-moment trips.
